Going into the weekend we were 10th team out of the tournament on bracketville. With our win and other bubble teams going 9-8 we're now the 9th team out going into the weekday games.

I’m glad you’re tracking these bubble teams. 9-8 suggests these teams will lose games. Every game we win, that’s another handful of teams, we gain on. One game at a time.RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑4 years ago Going into the weekend we were 10th team out of the tournament on bracketville. Their board has multiple posts that they feel disrespected in the polls and that if they go 2-0 this week they should be ranked.

This is not the right place for this, but there is some crazy and sad video out there on former St Joe’s guard Delonte West. Feel awful for the dude, seems like his life really went south.

In order for us to finish in 2nd place, don't we need other teams to finish behind us meaning they have to lose some games too.
I get we want them to lose to good teams but they still have to lose.
I'll just stop wishing for other teams to win besides URI, it's easier that way.

A lot of anxiety is expended on KB trying to decide who we should root for to win, or lose, or get mad because somebody wants PC to lose but it will hurt our NET, etcphipsiGD'11 wrote: ↑4 years ago In order for us to finish in 2nd place, don't we need other teams to finish behind us meaning they have to lose some games too.

Whoever is going to win is going to win and whoever is going to lose is going to lose. We can’t impact that, unless you are the Tuba in the URI Pep Band Sunday who went in the Empty Student Section of the Ryan Center and kept waving his Tuba while the UMASS Women's team player tried to shoot FTs. Now that could make me miss from laughter but otherwise this anxiety about who we need to win is a waste.

This is just what happens when they have to play a true road game. Maryland has only played four thus far and lost every one of them. They look headed to a road record of 0-5 once this game is over.

If the NCAA was any kind of legitimately run operation (big IF) you would think that they would disqualify both teams from post season play this year. I'm not usually a disciplinarian but that is a look you cannot have associated with the brand.

I mean banning a team from the tournament for a fight (where not actual punches were even landed) is a bit extreme.phipsiGD'11 wrote: ↑4 years ago If the NCAA was any kind of legitimately run operation (big IF) you would think that they would disqualify both teams from post season play this year. VCU leads Saint Joseph's at the half 39-26 and have led from the start. They have forced 11 SJU turnovers to their 2 and have stifled any Ryan Daly drives to the basket confining him to 5 points, on one trey and 2FT's.

How the mighty have fallen - #13 Butler is manhandled at Villanova 76-61. After winning 15 of their first 16 games, Butler has now lost three straight.
#18 Texas Tech suffers a similar fate at the hands of TCU, 65-54. TT has lost three of last five.

When URI and PC brawled back in 1990 it was only a couple game suspension for each player involved. No chair wielding (if I recall correctly) but Skinner ended up with a lump.Rhody15 wrote: ↑4 years agoI mean banning a team from the tournament for a fight (where not actual punches were even landed) is a bit extreme.phipsiGD'11 wrote: ↑4 years ago If the NCAA was any kind of legitimately run operation (big IF) you would think that they would disqualify both teams from post season play this year. VCU prevails over Saint Joseph's, 73-60. VCU never trailed in the game. VCU forced 18 Hawks TO's and the teams were essentially even on the glass. Ryan Daly who put up 21 against URI was held to 8 points. He apparently had only one layup as opposed to the six successful drives to the basket he had against Rhody.

DeSouza started the thing with taunting, then picked up a chair and went after somebody. He should be suspended for a year. Self should be also. This is the guy that Self pushed thru and is fighting with the NCAA in court about. Do we really need this type of kid, and coach, in NCAA basketball?

The kid stealing the ball when KU was very clearly trying to dribble out the clock is bush league and is what triggered this event.
In no way am I condoning the response by DeSousa and agree he should get hit with stiff penalties and long suspension, but if that kid doesn't do the chicken shit move none of that ever happens.

I think everything was fine with the steal and the block. There is nothing wrong with playing hard until the end of the game within the confines of the rules. Everything after the block was out of control. I agree DeSousa will get a long suspension, but I think there will be a lot more players receiving suspensions than him.bigappleram wrote: ↑4 years ago The kid stealing the ball when KU was very clearly trying to dribble out the clock is bush league and is what triggered this event.

Re: Week #12 - Games of Interest
Me personally, I don't feel that way. IMHO, Duquesne has done nothing this season, outside of their home win over St. Louis. They do have a 2nd Q2 win in Indiana St., but with Indiana St.'s NET of 98, that could go either way. So they've played no Q1 games, are 2-0 in Q2 games (with Indiana St on the fringe), and have 2 bad losses, against a schedule ranked 268th in the country, and I'm supposed to feel bad about them struggling to get votes? No, I can't do it. If they go 19-2 with wins over URI on the road and Dayton at home, I'll say they very well could be for real, but you can't play 8 Q3 games and 7 Q4 games to date (out of 17 total games), and cry about disrespect. They have beaten a lot of bad teams which while that might hurt their SOS with the NET, also helps efficiency, MOV, win percentage, etc. IMHO, Duquesne has to play well tonight to show they at least belong and aren't just a paper contender.
