URI travels to Morgantown to take on former A-10 foes West Virginia & from what I hear it is tougher than a long weekend at your in-laws. This is the return game from last season but with the caveat that WVU was too afraid to play at the Ryan Center, so this game was played at Mohegan. After WVU’s last game in Cancun, Huggins said “They embarrassed us a year ago. They rubbed it in. That should be a game we should be looking forward to.” I have no idea why he thinks we rubbed it in but I do recall Blue Man getting booted from the game because he was yelling at the refs hair gel usage. This game is really going to be a test for Rhody. The Mountaineers 4 leading scorers & rebounders are all 6’7” or higher so the length of this team could prove to be problematic. We will need Harris to stay out of foul trouble is we want to win this one. Go Rhody!

Tshiebwe has the potential to be a problem. He’s been up and down so far, with games of 20/17, 21/10 and 19/18, but also 5/5, 4/7 and 6/2. Wichita has some tall guys, but seems a little soft in the middle, and Tshiebwe dominated. This will be a big test for us in Morgantown, but Cyril will be a test for Tshiebwe also. We probably need Cyril to win that matchup to have a shot to win the game, and even then will need somebody other than Fatts to carry some of the scoring load and hopefully make some shots from the perimeter. Tshiebwe has also been prone to get into some foul trouble so will be important for WVU to keep him on the floor. To that end, I hope we can design some stuff to get Harris isolated on him on the offensive end - would be good to get Harris going, he’s a good FT shooter, and if we can get Tshiebwe into some foul that could help us. Harris had 11 against WVU last season.

I haven’t seen West Virginia yet this year, but I expect the usual frenetic pressing, trapping Huggins defense. Jeff and Fatts will have to stay out of foul trouble because they will both need to play big minutes. Lots of turnover potential when one of them is out of the game.

Tournament MVP Oscar Tshiebwe led West Virginia with a double-double scoring 19 points and tying a Cancun Challenge single-game record with 18 rebounds. Emmitt Mathews Jr. finished with 13 points and Jordan McCabe added nine. Miles McBride earned All-Tournament honors along with Tshiebwe.

I hate to be all doom and gloom but I think the only way we win today is if Cyril AND Harris play out of their minds.
The Tate that we've seen so far this season is not gonna cut it against a strong front court like WVU.
I think we can stun the Mountaineers at home but it's going to take a full 40 minutes which we've only seen once this season against Bama.
