Merrimack only lost to LeHigh and Bryant by 1 TD on the road. This will not be an easy game for us.

Easy game for us?

There is no such thing as an easy game for this team.....we all thought we would beat Brown easily......

Will be there Saturday. I'll be the guy in the corner with a stunned (really stunned) look on his face if we win.

Vito has been better than I thought he'd be going into the year, but now that we're 1-7 and going nowhere this year and Perrantes can take every snap the rest of the way and still be red shirted, I think it's time to let him take over. See what you have, get him some experience and restart the QB race in the spring. Where this is one of our two easiest games (along with Brown), and it's at home, it's the perfect time for his first start.

Rhody has published the notes for this game, and Vito is still ahead of Perrantes on the two deep. Not personally a fan of this

Maybe Fleming thinks Vito still gives them a better chance to win.....or maybe he's coaching for his job......which imo is ridiculous, since I think no matter what happens in the last 4 games, his fate should already be sealed.

A win or 2 should make NO difference in Thorr's decision to come.

Up 7-0 after the 1st quarter. Perrantes getting a look at QB, rotating each drive so far with Vito.

Fleming was extended before the season, it was announced here-

https://www.providencejournal.com/sport ... -some-love

Enough of all the talk of firing the staff. Most of the people on this thread who keep bringing it up self-admittedly don't even go to the games. It's laughable.

This team has lost more than a handful of games by only one or two plays, has raised the talent level and expectations year after year, and has brought respectability back to the program after it's been missing for decades. Other teams actually worry about us now, as opposed to assuming they were going to steam-roll us.

As an alumni class of '13, I like where this team is at vs. where it was. It takes a long time to change a program with a history and culture of losing, especially with one of the least funded programs in the conference. Has anyone watched the Delaware Football documentary on Flo Sports? Their facilities are through the roof, with an additional 50million dollar renovations ongoing. We JUST got turf and lights...

Enough of the negativity. Go Rams. Lets win these last 4 games of the season!!!!

Had to be some kind of discipline issue... was at the game and he was clearly ok to go from the get go.
GREAT weather for a football game and good to see them crank out the usual offense and not let the other team outscore them.

Merrimack just moved up from Division 2 to the FCS this season, joining the Northeast Conference. Bryant is also a member of this conference.

Too funny...I actually asked someone in the tailgating lot before the game if it was Merrimack, NH, or Mass, or someplace else...

URI was favored over Merrimack by 21.5 points today. We won and covered the spread easily.
Very good effort today.
Defense was strong.
Good to see Perrantes play today!

That article didn't say Fleming was extended....that they were ready to extend him....not a done deal.

Of course, after today Thorr will probably give him 4 more years! lol

There has been no confirmation of an extended contract at this point in time.....

The school is also set to award Fleming an extension to his contract. Entering his sixth year on the job, Fleming has proven he can move the ship in the right direction.
“Jim’s a great coach to work with and he’s building a program the right way,” said athletic director Thorr Bjorn. “It takes time and I love the way he’s going about doing it. When you have success like we did last year, and knowing that it doesn’t happen overnight, it makes you appreciate that he’s doing it the right way.”

The way the first half went,.......you have to question whether it is.... preparation....motivation....lack of confidence....or cockiness[because of the competition]?

That first half was a disgrace....no run defense to speak of.

Which then you must ask, is it our ....talent level.....preparation....or had the team given up on the season?

THEN THEY MADE THE ADJUSTMENTS.

Then I watched Notre Dame struggle with Virginia Tech, who we sorta hung with..........geez!!!!

Rhody was just physically superior in this one. Merrimack had very little pass rush and their QB had to get rid of the ball early much of the time. The run defense was porous at times. That one Merrimack RB was so stocky and had such a low center of gravity, it was like trying to tackle a bowling ball ( a Don Nottingham reference for all you fellow old timers).
Coulter just ran away from his man and then the rest of the secondary on that slant for the first TD. We wouldn’t have seen that versus Delaware or Stonybrook earlier. Parker had his seemingly once a game TD where he is covered well and uses his ability to outfight the defender. This isn’t a criticism of the win, though. This is what you do when you’re a big favorite. You take advantage of your superior talent and cruise to a victory. It took a while to get going, though.
I haven’t looked at a box score yet, but it was a sloppy game. It seemed like lots of penalties on both sides. I had to shake my head at Rhody’s 12 men on the field penalty early in the game. I believe it was on a fourth and seven punt. Merrimack then went for it on fourth and two and made the first down.

Those 12 man penalties....how many of those this year?

That's an indictment of the assistant coaching staff. Piss poor.

Again, you get what you pay for.

I believe Rhody also had at least 5 personal fouls...unnecessary roughness, late hit, facemask, etc...
Still, lotsa offense and a W...good times.
