Fordham leads Saint Louis 1-0 at the half at St Louis. If Fordham wins or ties then URI wins the Conference and gets #1 seed in the A10 Tournament.
URI plays at Denver in a match that just started at 9pm

Fordham upsets St Louis 2-0 at St Louis
URI takes the Conference Championship with a (7-1) record with the only loss being 1-0 at St Louis
URI gets the top seed in the A10 Tournament!

URI plays #8 seed next weekend at URI.
Semi-Final and Final will be held at Fordham this year.

Rhody finishes the Regular Season 12-3-2

Great Regular Season!! Only 1 loss in their last 14 games. They are playing great soccer, I will be at their first round A-10 game. It would be great to get a big crowd there.

I’m really happy they are doing so well in the polls, but I’m curious how that translates to a NCAA at large bid if they don’t win the A-10 tournament? I ask because their RPI is in the 70’s and I would assume that’s not going to help them sway the selection committee. However being in the Top 25 and not making the tourney seems odd. Could anyone provide any insight into the selection process for soccer? Do they evaluate teams similar to the way they select teams for the Big Dance?

Possible game vs St. Louis in next round. Game last week vs Davidson was very chippy- it’s going to be a tough road.

If we are top seed and SL is 2nd seed how could we meet in the next round. Wouldn't we only play them in the finals?

Because they are the 4th seed

VCU is the 2nd seed
Dayton is 3rd seed
SLU went from 1-seed if they beat Fordham last night all the way down to 4th. On top of that SLU will play 5th seed Fordham on SLU’s home Field next Saturday. Same Fordham team that beat them 2-0/last night at SLU.

Very exciting that Fordham beat SLU last night to enable URI to win the Conference and get the 1-seed!!

48 teams make the NCAA Tournament
Any A10 team likely needs to win the A10 Tournament to get in the 48 team tournament. At large bids for this year highly unlikely. Must win tournament.

I think they deserve to be higher on the coach's poll and the RPI rankings... They've lost 1 in like 15 games

They’ve played a weak schedule OOC and the A10 isnt good at all.

Upon further review.....based on the current rpi rankings:
Rhody is 2-3 vs teams in the top 100
11-0-2 vs teams outside the top 100 (9 games being against teams 150 or lower)

Friday afternoon at 1 we play Fordham at their place (conference tournament semifinals and finals are being held there). We beat them in early October 3-1 in Kingston. If we win we play Sunday at noon against the winner of the VCU vs. Dayton game.

We received many A10 awards following our regular season championship

Senior Peder Kristiansen - First Team Defender
Senior Stavros Zarokostas - First Team Forward
Junior Filippo Tamburini - First Team Forward
Redshirt Sophomore Edvin Akselsen - First Team Midfielder

We also placed three players on the 12 member all-academic team

Stefan Schmidt, a Psychology major

Gareth is really running a top notch program here and all efforts need to be made to keep him on board as long as possible, just like his former coach Ed Bradley

Yeah I’m not sure about that. In college football they switch it back and forth in OT and this seems analogous. I get why you’d say it’s an advantage to go second (you know what you need to do), but when it gets to the extra rounds I definitely think the advantage is to go first - you get to set the mark and move the pressure to the other team. When you kick, you know that even if you miss your goalie still has a shot. If you go second you are likely to be in a position where you know if you get stopped your season is over. In that scenario, I’d rather go first.

But either way - whether you think the advantage is going first or second - it would still seem to make sense to switch back and forth.
