Wouldn't be shocked at all if we gave them a scare!

Its just whether or not we can keep up for 4 quarters.

Ohio is waaay better than Uconn is that's for sure.

I think we would have trounced uconn if their quarterback wasn't able to out athlete everyone.

This Ohio team is said to be the most likely team to go undefeated this year.

This game has a lot of special meaning for me. First, I came to OU from Rhode Island as an 18 year old whipper snapper. Second, the first college football game I ever went to, my grandfather took me to see URI play Richmond. URI lost that day, but I had a great time. My grandfather passed in March (100 years old & WWII Army veteran) and the old URI football coach came to his calling hours.
So in honor of it all, we will be tailgating with a complete menu from the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations:

Fried Clams
Party Pizza (RI style pizza)
Rhode Island Clam Chowder (it's different from NE Clam Chowder)
NY System Hot Dogs (RI's style of dog)
Dunkin Donuts (RIish company)
Narragansett Beer
Del's Frozen Lemonade

Pretty good first drive.

Got into Ohio territory, Aaron Parker dropped what could have been a huge gain on a slant rout.

Worst drop of his life probably.

4th and 2 and Jim Fleming punts like a wuss.

Ended up being a good punt, but Ohio marches 90+ yards for the TD. Faced with a similar situation late in the 1st, Fleming elects to go for it, and they convert the 4th down with a scramble from Vito.

Vito is doing a serviceable job of managing the game. With guys like Parker, Bryant, Dorsey, Coulter we have weapons. My concern is does he have the ability to make throws down the field? While he is 7-9, they have been mostly underneath throws. Can he throw the deep post like Lawson? That was my biggest concern last year, hope we see him air it out.

These 1A games are tough due to the depth and numbers schools like Ohio have. Impressed with the O-Line so far with two freshman in Correia and Lovell getting the start as freshman.

Sucks to only come up with 3.

Zoe Bryant just blasted into the red zone and we just stop running the ball for some reason. Then Vito forces a few.

I think we have the horses to stay with them. Just gotta be smart. Which is difficult for us.

Wonder if we can make a stop on D.

Should be at least 17-10 half but it’s 17-6.

URI is 1-9 on 3rd down, Ohio is 7-9 on 3rd downs. Their dynamic QB is able to make plays. That's been the difference!

Agreed! I am surprised we didn't see him now. With the game pretty much wrapped up, take a look at him. He could still red-shirt even if he plays in this game.

Credit where credit is due, nice throw by Vito!
Depth has played a role. Long drives really takes it out of the defense, and they've been able to break some big runs that they weren't breaking earlier in the game. We have pieces, unfortunately our biggest question mark is still at the most important position of QB.

Ohio was a good team, we couldn’t get that QB off the field don’t think they punted all game?

Thought the play calling was overly conservative esp given an FBS opponent playing with house money, and have the same concerns as Bos8 vis a vis Priore but have to trust the staff that he is the better option.

Parker is a beast and could be playing on Sundays. Dude was double teamed all game and still put up gaudy numbers.

Wow. I thought Vito really improved and looked good. Last interception aside.
Hes gotten bigger,played with more confidence,ran well.
He seems to take blame for some things not his fault:

1. obligatory 12 men on the field penalty (1st drive?)
2. Play calling- inside 5 twice,only came away with 3. Things always seem to lock up down there.
3. Special teams-dropped snap on punt,short kick off.

The main thing is to learn from the rough edges (that assumption does not always apply-see 12 men penalty).

The color guy Fox made great point-is that Rhody has soo much talent on O they have to be top heavy in bang ,bang plays.
Get it in playmakers hands as quickly as possible. I like that.
The team looked in shape,did not quit and has a lot of talent (most since 85).
Outside of Va Tech,I doubt anybody has the talent OU did that Rams play.

If they learn,have a shot a playoffs. IMO.

Was pleasantly surprised with Vito overall, but still, a tad underwhelmed with the offense overall since I think they had great Opportunites to score more. The defense had a tough matchup but should clean it up too. Lets hope they bring it against Delaware. Also Parker is a pleasure to watch.

I felt like Vito left a few throws out there. Has to get better at leading his receivers on those slant routes. At least four times he threw the ball behind them.
Will be curious to monitor the progress of our defensive line. Don't think we'll see the size and athleticism of Ohio's line in any game beyond maybe Tech and James Madison. I expect the secondary to be a strength due to their experience.

I thought Vito was mediocre. Very nice TD throw to Coulter but as Bos said, too many throws behind receivers. Parker made him look better than he was.
