Has a lot to gain/lose with NCAA transfer decision. Probably buried on bench if everyone is eligible.

It was a really good interview. I think based on his history of playing organized basketball so late, it couldn't have been a surprise that he would reshirt last year as a development year.

I don't know what other programs and coaches he was talking to prior to him signing here, but I image the general theme with all of them was come here, redshirt, sit back, learn, get your grades in order, learn the process, and then play two years... regardless of what program he went to.

Factor in Toppin and Long also being here last season, and that pretty much sealed the deal. There was no sense of him wasting a year of eligibility last year, but it does look like he may bring some better outside shooting to the table than those two did.

edit

Agree with that last comment, Iggy. This will be a big year for him, IF the NCAA decides against allowing the transfers to be eligible

This post is so great in retrospect. All those guys are gone.

Well I’m rooting for him. Gimme 4 buckets a night and get in the way on defense.

Doable.

In some of the pics DJ looks like he put on some weight and added muscle. Hopefully that helps him progress as well. Seems like he has the skill set to get some minutes.

With only 7 eligible players he’ll get his minutes.

Rothstein predicted DJ in the starting lineup. Not sure if that'll be the case, but maybe? The two bench guys in this case would be Leggett and Berry.

Still don't see the point UNLESS Tate, Martin, Long, Hammond AND Toppin aaaallll leave.

Which is of course, NEVER going to happen.

You think we will be big in the front court with Harris, Walker and possibly Johnson? This is a very small and thin front court. The back court is obviously are strength

Got to agree with Ramstock here. 6'8,6'7,6,'7 is hardly a BIG front court even by A10 standards, let alone P5'S .
And we are 1 injury or foul trouble away from a 4 guard line up full time.

And one thing comparing the current team to the 4 guard offense in 2016-17 ,When We had EC@ 6'5, Stan @ 6'4 and
Jarred @ 6'3 215 who looked more like a Linebacker than a 2 guard. Not really apples to apples here on the
rebounding/ interior defense capabilities. We had better shoot >42% from 3 and the 3 forwards need to
play good defense and stay out of foul trouble. Something at least 2 out of 3 have not shown they can do
consistently ( DJ unknown at this point). We need to add bigs somehow that are eligible to play immediately.
I Hope Cox has some hidden gems in his back pocket that nobody knows about or we could be in for
a long season or at best a mediocre one.

This gets about as tedious as listening to the seven year old that can't get it through his head that this year's trip to Disney World has been cancelled.

Except you are trying to explain it to old dudes in their 60's and 70's.

We know that the A-10 is hoping to plan a 20 game season for each team. That's not written in stone, could be wishful thinking, might be cancelled all together, better still, will probably be played in empty gymnasiums, and there are no plans for any non conference games, and the season probably isn't going to start until January.

Merry Christmas.

Let's see what Fatts can do with this half dozen or so and look forward to hopefully a real season in '21.

This season is basically going to be the “Fatts NBA audition tape.” Given the circumstances I’m okay with that (CV-19, Transfer sit outs). Whatever it takes for the program to stay relevant. The rest of the fan base will either get on board or take a year off. Getting our expectations in the right place is key to how satisfying the experience is going to be for you.

Taking a year off because of certain players is called a fair weather fan.

"The only Kent State player who remains unavailable is junior forward DJ Johnson, a transfer from Rhode Island who is absent due to an issue not related to COVID-19 according to Senderoff. "

Hasn't played a game with Kent State since mid-December...
