I think if he can defend and shoot the 3 consistently he could definitely steal some
minutes from people ranked above him in the pecking order. Once he is on the court,
if he gets on a run with 3's it will be tough to take him back out.
we were ranked 351 out of 351 in 3 point shooting last year @ 28.0%. We need
better shooting. if we shot 33% on 3's we probably would have won another 2 or 3 games.
At times it absolutely killed us last year. ( I know I'm Captain Obvious)

Hearing some good things about Devale’s capabilities displayed on his visit to URI this week.
I thought a recruit couldn’t participate in any basketball activities during their visit.
They offered Matthew Butler after impressive 3 point shooting drill during a visit.

Guy shot mid 40% from 3 against college competition I don’t care if it was JC it’s not against 6’ suburban kids... this is the EXACT player we needed for next season coming off the bench... we can’t recruit 13 starters, great teams have guys like DJ that fill a huge void. If he can defend, rebound and hit 3’s he is a PERFECT fit for this team... I love this signing!!!!!!

I had been told the same date a few weeks ago.
I wonder is Coach Cox saved one of the allowed 8 weeks of summer practice.
I think he did and all of the players will be back Aug 25/26.

Does it bother anyone else that Devale Johnson still isn’t listed on the roster at gorhody.com? How long would it take someone to do that. He is enrolled and taking classes. While you at it put Jeremy Sheppard’s number (2) on there also.
Austin isn't listed either. Just Shane being overworked

I don’t check gorhody often. But I presume keeping it updated isn’t a priority. It would be a good task for a student intern.

Heck, I'd be happy with just the full schedule being updated on there.

Not sure how many of you caught Dana, Antwan and Devale‘s music/dance video on Instagram, but Devale looks big. At least a few inches bigger than Walker and Tate.. would be nice if some of our young big men continued to grow.

Thinking he may be about 6'9 or maybe an honest 6'8?
Devale says he's 6-7 so I hope he's not a few inches taller than Walker, who is listed at 6-9

Saw them up close in a line at football game. I thought same on DJ. Tallest or second tallest on team. The height surprised me so much I didn’t know who it was. Walker really nowhere near 6’9” but the world has used that in listings for a few years so it has stuck.
I like Johnson’s height, rebounding and shot blocking ability but most excited about his 3 point shooting ability. He shoots free throws well too. Shooting was our greatest weakness last season by far. Hoping for big things from Johnson and Shepard in the shooing department - plus improvements of course from the returning players.
