Congrats to Lotte Black tonight!
She finished with the 9th best overall time and finished with the 7th best time in Heat 1
Top 5 from each Heat go to Finals Saturday plus the two best times after the Top 5. Lotte was one of those 2 selected as she was 7th in Heat 1.
Lotte was tremendous - smashing through her personal best time ever in the NCAA Championships in Austin Texas. So exciting. Now she will be in the Top 12 going for the National Championship!!!!!!!!!

Lotte's Personal Best was 4:17.28 which she blew past with a PB tonight of 4:13.03 so she beat her previous PB by a whopping 4.25 seconds!!

Great job Lotte. Notice how close she was to the top time in the semi finals and the schools the runners ahead of her are from. You earned the honor as the top runner in URI history. Good luck in the finals. Hopefully the Rhody community will be watching and rooting you on.

Was thinking this might be Coffee Black (from SemiPro)'s daughter...but they don't really look that much alike...

URI's First Women's Track All American Ever

Rhode Island junior Lotte Black was named First Team All-American, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday. Student-athletes earned First-Team All-America status by finishing among the top-8 of their events at the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Austin, Texas.
Black was in 10th with 400 meters to go, and used a last 200 meters of 31.0 seconds to finish in fourth place. Her final time of 4:13.02 broke her two day-old school record by one hundredth of a second to cap off a record-breaking year.
She becomes the program's first Track All-American and joins Field All-American's Jasmine Jennings (Hammer '09) and Crystal Bourque (Hammer '11).

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – It what was arguably one of the fastest Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Championships in league history, Rhode Island's Lotte Black made sure she had a record-setting performance and Duquesne found its way back onto the podium. The Dukes won their third A-10 title Saturday morning at Pole Green Park just outside of Richmond, Va.

Black finished with the fastest time in A-10 history, clocking in at 16:37.4, obliterating the previous record of 16:54.6 set by George Mason's Bethany Sachtleben at Pole Green Park in 2013. It was also a personal record for Black. Mason's Annabelle Eastman, who finished second on Saturday, also surpassed Sachtleben with a 16:54.5 time.

Lotte is seeded third in the indoor mile.
The semis on Friday have 16 runners,
so I'm guessing 8 qualify for the final.
I would have thought a final field could
have at least 12, so the numbers seem kinda
low, but I have no expertise with indoor track.
Anyway, she has a great chance to win a medal.
Then, two days later, it's off to Oklahoma for
the XC finals.

What an awesome accomplishment!

Good luck Lotte!🏆🏃‍♀️👟

7th place in her heat in 4:42.
It looked like she got stepped on in the first 400.
Then she moved to the outside and was in 6th place,
but couldn't move up to the top 4.
Still really cool to watch a Ram at the national finals.
Good luck Monday in Oklahoma in the XC race!!!
