I wonder if they will hire a video coordinator. That $425,000 pool includes support staff (DOBO, VC, Player Development, Special Assistant, Grad Assistant). You'd be adding 2 new salaries with new Video Coordinator and John Carroll meaning TJ and Austin salary goes down.

Perhaps with all the assistants, DOBO, etc, someone will update the darn roster and add the correct numbers and JUCO? 😂😂

The coaching staff has been updated. Sheppard still doesn't have a number and Devale isn't even listed.

It has been stated here in the past by other posters that the $425K salary pool is only for those classified as assistant coaches and does not include support staff.

Video coordinator has been removed from the list on the site. My understanding is he'll do both.

So we'll once again be going through an entire season a man short on the staff?

Does NCAA rules prevent John Carroll from performing Video Coordinator duties?

It’s always nice when guys making 4.15 mil a year decide to give some extra money up to the guys behind the scenes who made them that money.

Here is the updated roster.
Sheppard is #2
Johnson is #23

14 players with 7 players listed as being 6’7” or taller. I don’t recall a URI basketball team with that many players 6’7” or more.
Langevine
Harris
Toppin
Tate
Long
Johnson
Walker
And any of these players could potential play significant minutes
Going to be a fun season to watch

It’s an intriguing group of players for sure. And IMO why we shouldn’t get obsessed with landing a traditional “center”. I just hope we can get improved shooting which is obvious but key to our success this year.

Nate Adger

NATE ADGER
Inducted May 15, 2000
His strength, scoring ability and sportsmanship made Nate Adger the most prolific basketball player in Johnson & Wales University’s early history. Twice the team's leading scorer and rebounder, Adger was the key cog of the fabled 1969-70 JWU team that reached the NJCAA Championships and came within a point of upsetting the country's number-one team at the national tournament. Not until JWU became a four-year institution did anyone break Adger's rebounding and scoring records. One of the Connecticut high school greats who were recruited by Dr. John Yena, Adger went on to even greater heights when he graduated from JWU and became a starter at the University of Rhode Island

Cox has said his philosophy on recruiting targets is more about "length" than it is height. If you get a 6'7 or 6'8 guy with a wide wingspan - you're able to shut down a lot more space and condense the lane than just getting the tallest guy you can.

The Alabama game 2 years back was a great display of how having that kind of length can frustrate a team and stop their offense.

Looking at the players last night I’d s Cox is recruiting exactly to his plan. I can’t ever remover a team with so many players 6’7” and up plus many of them have large wingspans as you suggest.
Gregory Hammond is a legit 6’5”. Will be fun to watch him develop here at URI. Team has height, length, athleticism and hopefully shooting prowess improves

Bobby put his staff together later than URI and hired former UMass Assistant that was fired earlier this year.

Good hire. Lots of experience, and recruiting connections in NY/NJ.

Not sure it’s a negative mark on Davis’s record to be fired by McCall. It kind of reminds me of Cox being fired by Eddie Jordan. The problem in one of those cases was definitely not the assistant. In the other, the jury’s still out, but it’s not looking good for McCall.

Speculation is that the UMass AD gave McCall an ultimatum - either that his assistants changed or they would change their head coach. He has this year to show the rebuild is going in the right direction.

Are you saying Cox should have TJ doing the Scouts and not Carroll?
