I actually fully expect us to win this game, just because that seems to be the way this season has been going so far. Lose some frustrating ones and win some impressive ones. Their inside game worries me though.

He got caught up in the 3 pt. shooting fest and flopped.

He can make them, but that's really not his game.

Need to get Dayton's bigs in foul trouble...that would be the key to a win.

They struggle from 3 especially on the road, but they do have a couple guys who can get hot here and there.

We have 2 guys that NEVER get hot from 3....don't need to mention their names either.

Sorry for doubting you Spookydog, but I saw the series stats and said no way that's right and went to the record book. You were right! I definitely thought we've played them more than 34 times. Great job on the preview

34 seems about right assuming we had few or zero games against them before they joined the A10 for the 1995-96 season. That is 23 seasons (prior to this one) of A10 basketball for which both Rhody and Dayton were in the league together at the same time. When the A10 went to 12 teams that season, they had an east/west format (from 95-96 to 99-2000 and from 2001-02 thru 2004-05 - the 2000-01 season there was 11 teams in the year between when Va Tech left and Richmond came in). Dayton was in the West and URI in the East. You played each team in your division home and home and the six teams in the other division once (3 home, 3 away). Those 9 years of east/west divisions, Dayton and URI played each other once during the regular season and 4 times in the A10 tournament for 13 total games (not counting that 11 game season):

1998
2001
2002
2003

After the 04-05 season, Charlotte and SLU joined, expanding the league to 14 teams and the league abandoned divisions from there. So in 9 years of divisional play, they met 13 times. I didn't look up how many times they met during the season/A10 tournament in the other years, but I know they met twice several of those seasons. For the sake of argument, let's assume an average of 1.5 per season in the other 14 years, that's another 21 games average (discarding the extra 1/2 game), so that would add up to that would be a total of 34 games in the life of both teams being in the A10 together.

So 34 seems like an appropriate # and just about right.

Speaking of Van Noy and the Pats, does Dan Koppen still go to games? I know he lives pretty close to campus. I used to see him often at games. His wife used to be a Ramette, or a cheerleader, I forgot which one. That's the connection.

One would think Koppen is still local as his LineSider Brewing is in nearby EG (where I believe he may also live). His wife Amber van Eeghen (daughter of NFL great and Cranston native Mark) was a NE Patriots cheerleader and URI Ramette (team captain).

Was walking out of the arena next to St. Daddy-o the Great. I told him "we haven't gotten a square whistle since you were here." He shot back, "That call on Matthews was HORSESHIT!" Good thing he wasn't coaching that day, because he would have gotten T'd and we definitely would have lost -- just like he cost us against Charlotte in 1999.

So we've already had Fatts throw the ball directly into the back of Martin. In fairness, Martin was three feet away, so it was tricky. Cox is killing this team by playing Fatts at the point, he hasn't learned a damn thing this season.

I keep hearing every game the announcers comment on out very intense pregame workouts. Is this the norm? Sounds like ours is more intense than the norm, could this be an issue for a team that isn’t deep to begin with?
