URI has not yet won a game on an opponet's primary home-court this season. My expectation is that this will not change tomorrow.

I don’t get RF1’s relentless negativity. He’s one of our most active and most knowledgeable posters, but his shtick is very late-90s Boston sports radio caller.

How many games has URI even played on its opponents “primary” home court? Two? What kind of point is that, even? URI will be favored and will likely win the game, but even if they don’t it doesn’t justify being so pessimistic.

Bah humbug to the nth degree.

I dont get the negativity about the tournament. Even though they lost to bucknell which they shouldn't have they still have seem to found a 3 pt shooting stroke which is important. Beating Hawaii in Hawaii would be a great way to end the tournament.

They were never getting an at large so the loss should not hurt too bad, the team just needs to continue to grow together.

For RPI/NET purposes, does this count as a road game or neutral since it's a tournament?

I was wondering about this myself. Not that RPI/NET are really going to matter this year. My gut tells me it is a neutral sight game. I doubt that it would be part of the season ticket package for Hawaii.

After the Bucknell loss I was really hoping URI would get to face Colorado as a consolation for losing out on a game vs TCU.
But after watching Colorado play yesterday, I'm not sure Rhody wants them on their schedule. They're not good. Pac-12, outside of Arizona State, is a dumpster fire and might be a one-bid league.
True road game vs Hawaii might end up as a better test.

I am still holding out slight hope for an NIT bid if we really gel and turn it on in A10 play, so they do use the RPI/NET/KenPom/whatever for that purpose.

At this point I don’t think it really matters who is on the schedule - we need to win games and continue to develop. Building a resume at this point is secondary.

I agree with this 100%. It runs deeper than three games. They aren’t making the tourney. These are bonding moments that will continue to help them grow with trust for one another on and off the court. The games away from home in neutral areanas or in Hawaii’s case on the road only can help.

Maybe that, plus, most of America is asleep when your games happen?
Wonder just how much that would change, if any, even if they were ranked and had a stacked roster?

I know someone who lived in Hawaii briefly after college and he said it’s very easy to feel extremely isolated there being so far away. Six hour flight from mainland US— great for a vacation, but I know wouldn’t be for me as far as choosing to live or go to school.

Road game for URI and home game for Hawaii
So all 3 game count as home games for Hawaii from a NET RPI standpoint? Obviously all other games not involving Hawaii would be neutral court for NET purposes.

Even if it’s a home game for Hawaii I would be surprised if Hawaii gets much of a home court Fan advantage seeing as it’s only for 5th place consolation game status and it’s Christmas Day at 10am there.

Yes it’s their home court physically but URI should not have visitors crowd noise as an obstacle to deal with.

Here is a preview from the Las Vegas paper for the last game of UNLV vs Hawaii.

Shakur Juiston did not play as he injured his knee in the Illinois game and has not played since. He is weighing surgery and a possible medical redshirt to have a 5th year. Other option is to let heal itself with no surgery.

In his brief stay there Little Ricky got Hawaii put on probation for his recruiting (ahem) techniques.

I'm 99% positive this will count as a road game for NET purposes, which is great, because that's exactly what it is. This is what Koch tweeted yesterday, and I checked on the NET page and Colorado got it credited as a road game when they played Hawaii. They only have 1 neutral game on their record, which was their Indiana State loss in the first game of this tourney.

I might be a road game but there are road games and there are road games

URI or any of these teams playing Hawaii is nothing like URI playing at Duke, VCU, PC, Dayton, etc. these tournaments played over Thanksgiving and Christmas draw few fans because they are during the Holidays, they are far/costly to travel to and because there are multiple teams sharing the Tickets who don’t go to all of the games.
Today’s game represents a lower home court advantage for Hawaii.
My guess will be the place quiet as a mouse today.

The Committee should consider these conditions when comparing team records at
Selection time.

Unless there's a shattered backboard OR the ball bounces all the way back over half court (in the air) after...the missed dunk is miserable.
It's the called strike three of basketball...just a miserable play.
