Great job by a very unappreciated URI team. Should enter the tournament with a home game and a RPI of under 15. That is D1 soccer not a sub division. Maybe they should get the new stadium with a track around it so we can watch our top teams .

I think they have a team that can make a deep run.

Some have posted that they will not get a home game because it is an NCAA requirement that the facility has accommodations for the media and URI’s field doesn’t.

We did host an NCAA game in the early 2000's against Boston College and a Media tent was set up behind the West goal; and we won the game.

Based on past experience, I would expect us to travel to an Ivy League School or possibly a nearby New England School like BC or dare I say it, UCONN; if BC or UCONN is tourney worthy (haven't been following) it's a good possibility. I don't think based on the regular season success and the conference championship they will send us travelling early. Then again, it's the NCAA.

UCONN had strong season. Lost conference championship in double ot yesterday. Games against URI and PC were cancelled due to weather. They were
9-1-1 at home. I'm doubling down. We will open at UCONN.

UCONN did not play in the conference finals and wound up in 4th place in the conference final standings. I would think they are on the bubble for an at-large bid.

The only thing that would stop us from hosting our first game would be facilities. Top 32 teams host their first game. 17-32 host games against 33-48 with the winners of the first round traveling to 1-16 for the second round if I have the format right

URI at Uconn THursday.

Winner travels to #2 seed Indiana.

URI got shafted IMO, they should be hosting a game.

New Hampshire only other New England school to get in. No other A10 teams.

Anyone know the time ? No doubt I will be in attendance with as much rhody gear on as possible. Screw UConn.

That is an odd decision on their part. Their campus soccer facility is a great atmosphere and very well attended.

Instead they are having the game 45 min from campus in a huge stadium.

They may still draw more than the football team though

Their campus soccer field is under renovation and not available.

Stop the whining. We got a fair seed. The top two teams in the conference, UCF and SMU are strong programs year in and year out and UCONN is often there with them. We had a great season and our defense has been solid all year. As usual, the bottom feeders in our conference always bring down the power ratings in every sport. We have a great chance to win the game. It was the obvious choice for committee and we don't have far to travel. Someone should check with Ace to see if Andrea will be there. She loves college soccer more than she loved Bonnet Shores. And Dan, well he's just different than the rest.

Bonnet- great place to day drink on the weekends, but don’t swim in the water. You’re okay in the pool at least.

UCF is not a strong program year in and year out. Its a new conference soccer wise and not very strong SMU and Uconn aside.

URI has a higher RPI, finished the season in better form than Uconn

Anywho, onward and upward

I trust Coach Elliott will have the kids ready to play......UConn chickening out after the weather postponement....and now us having to go there to play....we are perfectly set up of the "Nobody respects Us" card....

The problem with many of you on this board is you always want to play the respect card. I am far from a college soccer guru, but it was totally obvious that we were going to play UCONN. If you check my original post, I called it without even knowing who won the Ivy League 2 hours before the selection.
Enjoy the ride.

Nobody questioned playing uconn. URI should be hosting though. Hope you guys have the plows ready lol.

Goal UConn - now 3-2. 14 minutes left.

I hope it is easier to play on the field with that many lines on it than it is to watch it. Jesus.

Another UConn goal. Now 3-3, 10 minutes left. Both recent UConn goals were borderline offsides, didn’t get either call. Rams haven’t possessed the ball in a meaningful way in a little while now.

Shit loss when you’re up 3-1 with 15 minutes to go and lose. Could make a list of a half dozen excuses, but bottom line is you have to close that out and we had plenty of good chances to win the game even after UConn leveled it at 3-3.

I really want to see that third UConn goal, seemed to definitely be offside

Re: Rhody soccer

It looked offside to me but with only the one chance to see it and the bad angle and being at a distance, really hard to say for sure. Refs don’t miss a ton of those so if they missed one there it would be equally infuriating and surprising.

great season.
The two goals UConn had to tie it up were very questionable. Esp. the one that tied it,
I hope they introduce the team and showoff the A-10 banner at one of our big basketball games where we have a full house. The team deserves it.

Ugh. Lost 4-3 in OT. It was only the third time they gave up more than 2 goals all season (the other two being a 4-2 loss at Fordham and a 3-1 loss at Duquesne. If there were any justice, they would have won b/c they deserved to be at home. UConn didn't deserve a home game after cancelling the "rainout". Oh, well a good season. They didn't give up a goal until game 7 (in OT). Only gave up 15 goals in 19 games before today, so 19 goals in 20 games total. Hopefully they'll be back next year.

I was unable to watch the game, so I can neither agree or disagree with your first statement, but I am 100% on board with your second statement.
