Lawson...when is he returning?

What is going on with Lawson??? Does anybody have any definitive information? I saw him at the game and he was not in any type of boot or crutches. We need this kid back in a major way. We win that game easy with him as QB. Somebody has got to know what’s going on with his injury.

Literally week to week.
Certainly looks better.
Elon's QB is out for season.
They got pounded by Delaware.
W&M,UNH and Elon look winnable on paper (so did Maine).
JMU and SB are tough as nails. SB not quite as good as JMU?

There isn't, he used his red shirt at New Mexico and he played more than four games this year

I think hes a lock for an undrafted free agent spot.
I just wonder if they'd take him seriously after he only played 3 and a half games this year in the FCS.

Another Parker TD cuts the lead to 24-21. Tough in that the 2 minute stretch late in the 2nd quarter could end up being the deciding factor in the game. Elon busts a dive up the middle for a long TD run. URI responds with a drive that ends with Elon returning a deflected pass for an 80+ yard pick 6.

Really questionable call to onside kick with 6 minutes left. Kick that away, play defense, and try to force a punt. We basically gave that game away with the last 2 minutes of 2nd Quarter and then that bad call onside kick.

Final 24-21. Penalties and the 2 minute swing late in the 1st half. URI out gains by Elon by nearly 75 yards. The difference in the game was the fact we committed 12 penalties to their 2, gave up 7 sacks adding to the fact Elon gashed us for a number of lengthy runs to bring their total on the ground over 300 yards.We out scored them 21-3 in the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarter- unfortunately they scored 21 in the 2nd!

I really disagree with this take. I think if we kicked it off deep, they run the clock out.
I know that a select few on here love to 2nd guess play calling, so I would have thought they would have had a bigger issue with a decision n the 3rd quarter to punt. In a game of limited possessions, we decide to punt from their 35 yard line. It ends up being a touch back and a net gain of 15 yards. In a game of limited possessions, I would have liked to see us go for it there. We were down 21-7 with momentum on their side of the field, we stop them coming out of half time, think it could have turned the feel of the game if we pick up a 1st down and get some points that drive.

Agree with the questionable punt call. But don’t agree that an onside kick with 6 minutes left was the right call. That’s a lot of time. Even if they held it for 3 minutes and got a couple first downs an eventual punt and you have the ball down 7. The game was over the minute they recovered that kick and moved 10 yards into FG position. It’s too bad bc with lawson the full season we are prob a playoff team. B

Calls get criticized when they don't work or when they make no sense. Yesterday's onside kick falls in the first category - URI had to get the ball back and obviously did not have confidence in their defense. The non onside kick against Maine falls into the second category - it made no sense.

Looking ahead, JMU with its loss to UNH is not the power house they were projected to be. And UNH is doing what well coached teams do - not quitting. With Lawson back these are 2 games that URI can win. But unfortunately a disappointing 5-6 is staring the ream in the face.

Even at 5-6, you could still drop a "best season since____(?)", can't you?
Seems the program has improved from "no chance to win, and not enough space to detail the reasons why" to "talking about a couple questionable play calls per game in (most) losses." Good progress, nice to see them competitive.

But I don’t get the assertion that our defense couldn’t get the ball back. They were a one dimensional offense, and hadn’t exactly been scoring at Will against us. To me 6 minutes is a long time and effectively ended the game when we didn’t recover.

bigappleram - I agree with your assessment - but I guess coaching staff did not. And I think my take on the coaching is well known...win 1 game and I understand why Fleming will be back. Lose 2 and time for Thorr to move on. I would go after Rossomondo at CCSU. 12 - 44 is not acceptable!
