I find this situation somewhat interesting - following him on social media he does reference cox on most of his posts as does his dad. obviously a very premature situation and once other offers start rolling all things might change. but it is interesting giving he's on the west coast - not sure what the connection is to Cox and Company, but something worth monitoring. for a rising freshman he looks very good.

Just looked him up on Twitter. Interesting for sure noting the Cali connection.

The family is from the DMV and moved to the west coast. Team Takeover connections.

I love the recruitment of 14 year olds (:
It’s the strategy the new Bryant coach uses. Sometimes he even offers a scholarship when they are in 8th grade to get a jump on it.

Sooo early here because he's a '22, but check out his IG story - has the URI logo and picture of the Ryan Center. Wonder if he's coming for a visit?

Likely because we are his only offer. This kid will be special. Averaged 18 points on the varsity team as a freshman. His father is well connected to the DMV, used run Team Takeover.

Such a great early addition. I love the ability for this staff and cox specifically Identifying talent early. He does this often identifies the talent and really makes a solid connection due to his genuine down to earth stature.

This is exactly the type of recruit we need straight up shooter/sniper who can really space the floor. I think he has a very underrated ability to drive to the hoop too. Not just a catch and shoot guy on offense. It is a good day to be a rhody ram.

Have we ever had a verbal this early? I do not recall one. And he is coming clear across the country which is great. I know he is from the MD area but his family now lives in California.

Do not know much about Chance, but when I hear great shooter, I get very excited. The 3 point line is so important in basketball today and will be nice to have someone who can take full advantage of it.

This came out of left filed. The last post before the tweet about him announcing was four months ago.

Cox is a very good recruiter as I have stated previously. He is a straight shooter and he has a great way of connecting with kids. This spate of transfers this year was very strange based on what I know of Cox. I think the players not being on campus and being influenced by others led to the high number that we had.

I want to get excited about college basketball again. This Covid situation is so depressing in so many way. We all badly need to get back to some semblance of normalcy before we all lose our minds. OK just speaking for myself.

Go Rhody!

This is incorrect.

Stephens was not offered in the 8th grade by David Cox

"URI was his first offer while Stephens was in eighth grade"

If memory serves (and that's a stretch) the last "sniper" we had from California was a kid named Joshua King. He worked out pretty well.

Where's slim to tell us what a bad commit this is? just joking. This is a very cool early commitment. Go Rhody!

Also, if we win and stay in the top three or so in the A10 there's no reason to believe Chance won't stay committed and attend.
