Re: '20 VA PF Richie Springs
Can you really be that underrated with those schools being interested?

Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines
Re: '20 VA PF Richie Springs
Vetbal Commits Composite Rating is 2 star. I am guessing that is why the tweet says he is underrated.RhowdyRam02 wrote:Can you really be that underrated with those schools being interested?
247 Sports has him as a 4 star and ranked 73rd Nationally.
I pay less attention to the stars and rankings especially for recruits that are two years out from college.
I pay more attention to what schools are offering.

Re: '20 VA PF Richie Springs
MacDuffie has a lot of underclassmen.
#32 Tuscan Onuoha is a ‘22. He is 6’9” from Australia. He had a good game.
#33 Chad Venning is a ‘20. He is 6’9” 265 from Brooklyn. He is listed as a starter on the score sheet and played one minute. I don’t recall him. Maybe he got hurt the first minute in.

If you mean Ismael Massoud, yes. He did nothing. Wasn’t impressed with him last year either when he played with Dana. He is committed to Wake Forest.

Re: '20 VA PF Richie Springs
Richie Springs had an unofficial visit to UConn Sunday. Reporters covering UConn are expecting Springs to reclass to ‘19 and commit to UConn today. They have an open scholarship. I have seen him play a lot. Went to prep school in my area and played with Dana Tate and James Bouknight. I think Richie is a rotational role player. Even watching him this AAU season playing with ‘20s he didn’t stick out at all. Good rebounder with not much on offense. Not very strong and definitely doesn’t look 6’10” to me. Boswell was the connection with Richie which Rhody lost. Average player.

Re: '20 VA PF Richie Springs
I believe Dan Hurley got a good late addition with Springs
Hurley was at Peach Jam throughout so got a good look at players going against the best competition
Springs saved his best AAU Play for the most important Final 5 Games of the EYBL AAU Season. Most impressive was his Rebounding at 13.4 rpg with strong performance on the Offensive Glass
In the 5 July Peach Jam Games:
Game 1: PSA Lost to Houston Hoops (70-76)
Game 2: PSA beat Team Durant (73-66)
Game 3: PSA beat Alabama Fusion (82-57)
Game 4: PSA beat Seattle Rotary (78-69)
Game 5: PSA lost to Texas Titans (80-89)

Re: '20 VA PF Richie Springs
I watched him a lot in person and streaming at PJ. He did a good job rebounding. A lot of his FGs come from O Rebounds (nothing wrong with that). He is not a good shooter and is a weak FT shooter. The big question is will his rebounding transfer to college against bigger & stronger players. He did well vs 6’7” players.
Dan is building a team for 20-21. I talked to him in Jan at Hoop Hall Classic and he told me that.
He tried to get a big that could help this year and it didn’t work out.
They were going to land Richie for the ‘20 class so with an open scholarship he took him now (Springs reclassed).
It will give him a year to develop in a college program and gain strength. Similar to what the did with Akok except Springs can see some playing time. UConn is very happy with the advances Akok has made with the extra half year. I think Springs will be a good rotational player beginning his Soph or Jr year.
Interesting that UConn has picked up two of Dana’s teammates from MacDuffie. I watched them a lot Dan’s Sr year (their Jr year). There was no doubt that Dana was the best player of the three. Bouknight hurt his hand that Jan but I saw them play before. UConn fans are acting like they landed two super stars. I realize they were one yr behind Dana. I think Dana will be better than Springs and closer to Bouknight than people are projecting.

This from UConn blog
Mentions how Springs’ ranking dropped at start of AAU but also how he came on very strong in the 5 Peach Jam games averaging 13.4 rpg
Dan was at Peach Jam even on the last Championship Sunday when only 2 teams were left, when 90-95% percent of HC’s have already departed.

Re: '20 VA PF Richie Springs
Interesting. UConn was looking for a big man who could play a backup role this year. Springs could’ve just committed to the ‘20 class. Now UConn starts the season with only 10 scholarship players. They have one transfer and were shorted one scholarship as a penalty for Ollie’s recruiting violations.
