Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
He's a little on the smallish size so I'm guessing his ranking isn't high. He's a little taller than Fatts. He is very talented. He's also a local kid, from the New Bedford area.

We should get a group of Rhody fans to go to a few Woodstock Academy games this Fall. In Rhody attire of course.

Doesn't he still play for Tabor Academy in Marion?Rhody83 wrote:We should get a group of Rhody fans to go to a few Woodstock Academy games this Fall. In Rhody attire of course.

Got an offer from Buffalo. Hopefully he stays under the radar a little bit and we can get him.

Like Noah as well have seen him a few times going back a couple years. But I always have a bias for local kids

I hope we get this kid. That's quite an accomplishment to lead a very talented Expressions team in both scoring and assists.

Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
Wonder if that is due to the fact they feel confident on a few of their other relationships with guys right now at the guard spot as recruits. Bishop would come to mind haha.just a wish i guess hahah.Iggy1979 wrote:Hearing URI backed off

That’s too bad. I like this kid and we could see him play at Woodstock Academy this year.

Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
Maybe they think he and Fatts couldn't play together because they're both small guards. Kid is definitely talented. July period coming. Time to narrow down the list of kids we're recruiting.

I seriously doubt that at this phase in the process.Rhody74 wrote:Or Noah told us he’s not interested.Billyboy78 wrote:Maybe they think he and Fatts couldn't play together because they're both small guards. Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
I don’t think Cox is looking for a PG for ‘19 class and I don’t think he wants a 5’11” PG unless his name is Fatts.
Two scholly’s left for SG (Bishop or similar player) and F/C (Walker or similar player)

Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
Here's how I'd compare Noah and Fatts. Noah is 2 or 3 inches taller than Fatts. Noah is extremely quick. Fatts is a little quicker. They both play in your face defense with very active feet and hands, very similar on defense. I think right now Noah is a better shooter, although with more consistent minutes this year, Fatts will shoot it much better this year than he did last year. Noah is definitely the better passer. Noah could back up Fatts for 2 years, but they could also play together in certain situations. I think Noah could get 15-20 minutes a game here as a frosh, 7 or 8 minutes when Fatts is resting and 7 or 8 playing together.

He’s picking up an intriguing mixture of offers, including 3 from the A10 (Bona, Saint Louis, UMass).

Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
I know URI offered by it's obvious now that Cox does not see PG as a need for 19.

Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
Temple just offered. Wish we were still on him. If he came here, Jeff would be a senior and Fatts a junior. Have to start grooming another PG soon.

Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
He might not be interested because with Fatts getting 32+ minutes ahead of him for 2 years. He can look at that and assume he wouldn't have a chance to start until his Jr year. Kids are interested in that.
Also Coach Cox has mentioned that since the first day of practice they have had Omar handling the ball. They like his ball skills and passing.
I would expect Rhody to recruit a PG for 2020. They would play one year behind Fatts and then take over.

According to Iggy, Noah was very interested. We're just not recruiting PGs right now. He is a good one.Rhody83 wrote:He might not be interested because with Fatts getting 32+ minutes ahead of him for 2 years. Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
I agree he is a good one. Not a need for two years though.
I like the class of Bishop, Long & Walker or Somerville.
Some size there too with 6’5”, 6’7”, 6’9” or 6’10”.

Re: 19 MA PG Noah Fernandes
Hard to have multiple undersized PGs on 1 roster, but this kid is going to be a pain to play against if he ends up at UMass. He had great passing numbers in the EYBL this year.
