The last 40 seconds of the game last Friday notwithstanding, I love this matchup for us. I have a ton of respect for Davidson, and part of me really wants to see them make the tournament and have the A10 get three teams. They are a tournament team and should get in in a fair world. But Rhody rolls tomorrow. Monkey off the back, revenge tour almost complete.

Idk, I’m a terrified of Davidson right about now. They are clicking on all cylinders. Grady and Aldridge are worthy of the hype. We can beat them, but we have to douse their flame EARLY and keep it smothered.
we always hold Davidson way below their normal output.
2014-15: averaged 79ppg, held to 60 (-19)
2015-16: averaged 79ppg, held to 65 (-14)
2016-17: averaged 73ppg, held to 59 (-14), 70 (-3), 60 (-13)
2017-18: averaged 77ppg, held to 59 (-18), 63 (-14)
on average we hold them to 13.5 points below their scoring average.
our length, quickness and superior athleticism disrupts their offense. they are built on long developing plays to drive and kick to the open shooter or hit a cutter. Our defense disrupts the passing lanes and can guard 1 on 1 so the shooters cant get free. They are spot shooters (except Grady) and cant create off the dribble. Its why we can smother them

Some things we can accomplish with a win tomorrow:
We would move into 5th place alone for most A10 tournament championships. Right now we're tied with Villanova, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Rutgers, and George Washington.
It would be the seventh time a team won at least back to back tournament championships. Pittsburgh did it in 81 and 82, West Virginia in 83 and 84, Temple in 87 and 88, Massachusetts from 92-96, Temple in 00 and 01, and Temple from 08-10.
We would be the 13th undisputed A10 champion, meaning outright best conference record and tournament champion. St. Joe's did it in 86, Temple in 87, 88 and 90, Massachusetts from 92-96, Temple in 00, Xavier in 02, and Saint Louis in 13

Its too bad Davidson had such a poor OOC season (5-6). If they hadn't lost to teams like Appalachian State and Hawaii, they might not have had to win tomorrow for the automatic bid as an at large as their RPI rank would be #35 (as opposed to the current #59) making it at large worthy.

Too bad to whole conference sucked in OOC. Might have made things better for us all year long.

At least Aldridge will have the NIT to play in after tomorrow. They've played their way into that tourney.
We are deeper, and more athletic than they are. That will give us an edge, especially in the 2nd half tomorrow. There will be tired legs, which should hinder their 3 pt. shooting....and as long as we play our usual defense against the 3 pt. shot, we should pull away late.
Grady will get his, but my guess is Aldridge won't. We have more options. 74-59.
Would be nice to see this team come out and take it to Davidson early and force them to play from behind, they are not a team who is built to play from behind. Seems like we've needed to get kicked in the teeth before we start to play with that sense of urgency, lets have that mentality from the beginning and leave no doubt.

Not sure what that is supposed to mean and they are playing very well right now but in no way do they deserve to get in as an at large if they lose. They lost to Hawaii, and Appalachian St. earlier in the year with no where near enough quality wins to make up for that. They have not even been brought up in any bubble talks. BTW Also lost to richmond twice.
Sorry, that was unclear the way it was written. They are a tournament caliber team. I would pick them to beat a half dozen or so teams that will get an at-large on a neutral floor if they played today. They obviously are not going to be invited if they lose today based on their overall body of work.

Andre Berry dominating. Count me among the not surprised. Berry criticism is silly of his defense. Just cause he is heavy. When he gets scored on people say get him out of there he is too fat. Anybody else gets scored on they don't default to saying they can't do it.
