The last three years, VCU has had great traveling fan support to the A10T. I would expect them to show up and be loud and jacked up tomorrow.
I'm sure they will be, and I'm sure they will outnumber our fans greatly, but will they have 7500 fans cheering them on? And I'm sure we'll have more than the 100 or so that we had for the first game. I just don't see how a mostly empty building with a more even split can replicate the crowd we faced the first time
Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines
As I've said before about home/road, it isn't just the crowd, either. That's a big part of it, but it isn't the entire picture. Even if the crowd is pro-VCU, it isn't their building, it isn't their lockerroom, they didn't sleep in their own beds last night. It's not the same as being at home.

In some respects, I agree with EC. Have you ever seen less pre tourney respect and talk for a team that was its league's #1 seed wrapping up that position with one week left in the season after having led the standings from Day 1? The only team in the league that was currently nationally ranked (along with being the only member ranked at all throughout the year) heading into its tournament? URI has not gotten a lot of buzz in the past week with regards to the league awards and tourney prospects. For a team with its credentials, it has seemed to be a bit under the radar in the last week.

This board is fun for hot takes, but I'm serious when I say by the first media timeout I think we might be able to tell whether or not we win the A10 tourney. Whatever fire we come out with will either be there, or it won't. Feeling that same sense of hungry that we had last year. Lets just go win.

good...put that chip back on their shoulder. they play so much better when they're hungry and feel they have something to prove.

Its been wild. All of a sudden I see everywhere how good bonas is, how RI is slipping and not a threat to anyone. Its like the entire good part was invalid since they lost 2 times lol
I see that too. I don't think A10 Talk is big on Rhody. I also think that it might be due to the model. Seems the have writers dedicated to teams and then they can just publish what they want or how often that they want.
Go Rhody. Stem the tide. The Rhody Reign aint ova.
a lot of it too is we are a hated team. We have the identity of our coach, who rubs a lot in the league the wrong way.
They dont like us because we are physical, tough and brash.
On top of that, the league the last decade has moved south and really looks down on the remaining North teams. We get the scraps, we dont get a local A10 tourney, us "original" programs (URI, UMass, Bonaventure) are the red headed step kids of the modern A10

^ Really? "Hated team"? seems you need to invest energy to hate...does everyone else really care enough to 'hate URI'?
Maybe that's accurate...but it sounds like raging paranoia?

among the other A10 schools? yeah, we are definitely hated.
Go read any game threads on the other boards and its constant hate and complaining about our coach, us being overhyped, us being bullies, us getting away with fouling all game, and when we win we never deserved it...its always they gave it away

Bonnies have won 12 straight and we've lost 3 of our last 5. We can turn things around starting today but right now Bonnies definitely look like the hotter team.
Ok in Dublin and nbc sports app not working. You guys are my eyes and ears today. Go Rhody!!!!!
