All good my man. Love that the appetite for these things is so strong! Will try to get on top of these things for future games over the weekend.

5.7% is not a lot of percents.

KenPom has this as the most “winnable” game in the remaining schedule (94%, predicted score of 78-61). At the start of conference play, KenPom predicted a 13-5 conference record. Their play thus far now has them at 16-2.

I’m happy to see Tarin Smith (from St. Anthony) and Rene Castro-Caneddy (who was briefly recruited by Rhody) have success so far this season.

I won’t be able to watch this one, so I’m debating between hiding from all sources of results and watching it later or just checking the completed box score.

Good stuff, as always. I feel like Dan’s much more “quotable” when he’s in a relatively good mood and the team’s winning. And to get a group of individuals to buy into and accept this type of thinking (“yes, we won, good, but...”) is impressive.

On the approach after another win: “We’ve been doing a really good job, the day after games, of breaking down the mistakes we’ve made. We made plenty of mistakes [Wednesday]. We weren’t very sharp with the ball. We didn’t finish very well around the basket at times. I think we could play a lot better than we played last night, and I think that’s the best way to kind of distract them from streaks and different things that are going on - just make them aware that we probably had three guys play well [Wednesday] and we didn’t do a very good job with the ball. A number of guys weren’t at their best last night. To win Saturday and moving forward, we’ve got to play better.”

The better half says that's too early to tailgate, which, I'm pretty sure, is wife-speak for "separate cars"

Will be interesting to see the matchups
Verhoeven is a 6’8” Freshman. Last game he played only 9 min with 4 fouls. But in previous game 8 rebs and 9 blocks. - Berry
Chas Brown 6’8” senior - EC?
Mike Lewis II 6’1” Soph - Terrell
Rene Castro 6’2” Senior - Dowtin
Eric Williams Jr - 6’5” freshman - Robinson. Williams has been A10 Rookie of week 4 times already. Last two games have been his highest of the year - he is Red Hot.
Last game: 42 min, 9-17 FG, 5-9 on 3FGs, 2-2 ft, 8 rebs, 4 steals
Previous game: 47 min, 11-18 FG, 9-15 on 3FGs, 3-4 ft, 11 rebs, 1 steal
Amazing shooting and rebounding.
29.5 ppg and 9.5 rpg last two games averaging 44.5 minutes per game
14-24 on threes for 58%

If not Robinson, possibly Dowtin on Williams
At any rate I’m looking forward to seeing this kid tomorow and seeing Dan’s game plan

Fatts Russell has a lot of pluses in his multi-dimensional play, but his 3 point shooting is bad, 7-42 in the eleven games since PC. We need more consistency here.

I think Dowtin draws Williams, Terrell draws Castro, EC draw Lewis, Berry gets one forward and Stan gets the other forward

Will be interesting because we need to see how Duquesne wants to play us too. I like Dowtin On Williams, really do, but that does not match up the point guards.

I think it’s Stan on Williams so Dowtin can be OG to PG I’m very curious how both coaches chose to match up.

Quick research: The Dukes have played OT in three of their last four games over 2 weeks. 4 players have played 35-40+ minutes in those 3 OT games. I know it's a long period of time between games, compared to the NCAAT. But its got to wear on you a bit. not a huge stat/fact but something i thought was interesting.

Sat, Jan 13 vs La Salle
W101-94 3OT

Wed, Jan 17 @ Saint Louis
L76-63

Sat, Jan 20 vs George Mason
W95-89 2OT

Wed, Jan 24 vs Richmond
L77-73 OT

And Williams, the freshman has played 47 and 42 minutes in the last two games - crazy. But he had 49 points and 18 rebounds in those 89 minutes.

Duquesne scores less than 18 in the first half...maybe significantly less...

Of course, I've been wrong before...

So you might wanna get your bookie on the line and see how many points he's giving...

What was that said recently that it was not a goal of this team to be ranked? and that it really did not matter to the team to be ranked?

Amazing that this will be only the 4th game that we have played on our home court since 2008 that we have been Nationally Ranked - heady stuff indeed. Good times in Kingston RI

Anyone know what those other 3 games were, against what teams and what the attendance was for them?

“It feels great to be a ranked team,” URI guard Stanford Robinson said. “It’s something the fans wanted. It’s something that we wanted. It’s exciting to come back home and play in front of the fans.”

Duquesne (14-7, 5-3) will be looking to spoil just the fourth home game for a ranked URI team since 2008.

Fascinating article about how they can't give tickets away now for Pittsburgh (AAC and all) but the Duquesne Men's and Women's Teams are becoming more and more popular for the Winter Sports Fan in Pittsburgh.

Someone is getting a bit carried away:

Duquesne is averaging only 1,557 for their games thus far. This is up +339 over the previous year average of 1,218 so percentage wise it is a decent number. A total of just 23,355 has come out for the 15 games played to date this season. They had 1,786 for their last game versus Richmond. The biggest crowd of the season was 2,572 (many of them Flyer fans) for their A-10 opener versus Dayton at the end of December.

Duquense's future plans do not seem designed for greatly increased attendance at home games. The Dukes will soon begin a 40 million dollar upgrade to athletic facilities (not just basketball related), part of which will include renovations to the AJ Palumbo (opened 1988) that would add more creature comforts but further reduce capacity. The on campus basketball venue for Duquesne has seen a steady decline in capacity since it was first opened. It's original configuration was mostly all bleacher seating. As chairbacks and more creature comforts have been added, the capacity has been reduced and is expected to again decline slightly with the next renovation.

The ever shrinking AJ Palumbo Center Capacity
1988 Capacity 6,200
Sometime pre-2010 Capacity 5,358
2010 Capacity 4,406
2016 Capacity 4,390

The Rhody Band is being given a lot of cameo shots by NBCSN. The Band looks great on TV.

Meanwhile, on the court, the Rhody basketball players have their hands full with Duquesne. It has been a back-and-forth game so far.

At the media timeout with 12:00 remaining in the first half, Duquesne continues to hold the lead:

Duquesne 15, URI 12
