Then add the length they play with. and the zone being packed in.

They came out with a plan. We just came out.

Obviously they aren't 30 points better. But they were that day. And to beat them it will take more than just playing them again.

I didn’t say we WOULD beat them just by playing them again. What I said is that beating them would be the best way to restore confidence. At that point we would be dancing anyway so might as well take a crack at the team that put us on our heels and try to prove that losing to them at all was a fluke.

I don't want to be a Joes crusader. I have hated them for a long time. Throwing the dels guy out. Knocking out KI and breaking JG's jaw.

I just respect Martelli and his program more than Dayton/ VCU with their new coaches.

I also think Martelli has always coached his teams to their potential.

I don't like him at all. I do like that he plays the game through his best players.

We need more out of Akele. He's shot less than a third of the 3balls he shot in the past two years.

And his percentage is down to .250, from 41% and 40% the previous two years. I don't understand the change in his game.

I would also like them to get EC involved from the get-go. Need him and Terrell playing their best.

Piece it all together and win some more hardware.

Akele plays just a little more than Dadika. If we're counting on production from him we're in serious trouble.

And I'd like nothing more than for EC to return to his 2017 tourney form. Let's hope he does!

We've got a lot of guys, for whatever reason, that are not playing their best.

I expect Terrell to play well this weekend....also Stan and Cyril. We really need Jeff to pick it up again. I think he will.

The rest? Who knows? Can EC actually make shots and FT's? Same for Fatts? Is JG feeling better?

For us to win, we need the balance we had for most of this season. If only a couple guys are "on"....that's not enough.

Akele was definitely more aggressive last season. I think hes too cold coming off the bench for 2 minutes a game. Would be great for at least 5-8 points from him though.

Opponents this weekend are going to be focused on slowing down JT....we have to have improved play from others.

Akele could be a key if he can give us a few good minutes.

I'm not a big Akele guy, but he does get those brief handful of possessions a game and if he could produce in those glimpses it would help.

Its hard to play just from outside as a team. And it's hard to ask so much out of our guards in terms of the physicality of the game down the stretch of the season. It is crunch time now. Anything helps.

Winning back to back A10 titles and both titles in one season would be a great achievement.

Even with us winning our 16 in a row. Which was and is huge around here. The Bonnies are at 12 in a row. Cant roll the ball out there and expect that what you have been doing for 3 months is going to beat teams that obviously have gotten better.

First I hope we can get there... 6:40 flight tomorrow.. Then I hope we see 3 games.. Get back to what we do best.. Non stop solid D, create some turnovers for easy baskets and share the ball... No hero ball get everyone involved... Go rhody!!!

No hero ball indeed...we don't win games by jacking up 3's that's for sure.

Hate to say it, but EC in the game lends itself to hero ball, and the way he's playing, it's zero ball.

If he can't/doesn't get off the schneid....we've got problems.

Guys have to make shots....simple as that.

Also, listen to how fans have reacted to him this year. Do you think it lends itself to playing good, confident basketball when your home fans treat you that way?

No more home games this season for Akele. Maybe that will help.....

Unfortunately, he's not likely to see many minutes next season either.

I would expect to see lots of zone from now on. Jared, EC, Jarvis and Fatts are the guys that take the most outside shots. Jeff has only made 17 threes all season, Stan has made 20 all season. So, I'll focus on the other 4 guys. Jared has been decent shooting the ball recently, although not great. The other 3 guys have been incredibly bad. EC is 0-10 from three in his last 2 games. Jarvis is 0-15 from the field in his last 5 games, including 0-9 from three. Fatts is 3-25 in his last 4 games, including 2-15 from three. Those are some scary bad shooting numbers. You know the scouting reports on us will show all of these numbers. Teams are going to pack it in. We will see plenty of open looks. We have to hit them and force them out of their zone. Hopefully the guys get their legs back this week.

Yeah if that kind of bricklaying keeps up we're done. We also have to get easy baskets with our defense.....although with teams spreading us out on defense that's not as easy either.

It can be done.......heck if we just shoot 3's at our season long average we'll be OK. And FT's too.

Akele will see bench next season unless there's a dramatic improvement....these guys coming in are at a different level then most of Dan's earlier recruits imo.

And that includes some other guys on this year's team.

Akele seems to be the guy that comes in right before the media timeout and comes out right after it...sort of like in the nba taking a guy out for the last few seconds of a quarter to give another minute or two rest before putting him back in to start the next quarter... As someone said earlier...gotta love the Italian Ram... seems like such a great kid, would love to see him play well and get more time.

Dan and the staff's track record of developing guys since he's been here has been pretty good, but for some reason Akele hasn't progressed...somewhat of a disappointment there.

I dislike Martelli and thought I knew about most of his bad boorish behavior (shouting match with crowd at St Bonaventure/flipping off fans at GW/challenging Bill Packer to a fight in a tv interview/declining to bolster URI's NCAA hopes late one season when given the chance/his team sending two URI players to the hospital in one game/etc...). I however don't recall anything about the Del's guy. Please refresh my memory.

Lovely first half of basketball between LaSalle and UMass....both teams really lighting it up...33% for UMass, 29% for LaSalle....LaSalle 0-9 on 3's but 14 made FT's. Pipkins with 3 fouls, Johnson doing nothing for LaSalle.

Not the same teams we saw last time we played them.

Davis, Davis and Crutcher scare me more than any guards VCU has. And Tillman = Cunningham

Dayton has no depth, and we turn them over a lot.....I would prefer playing them.....VCU can be tough on the boards [yes we dominated them on the boards last time] but was that an anomaly? Also their PG was hurt and wasn't a factor when we played them.

Also Dayton's lack of depth will show playing 2 days in a row.

I think there is no question we’d rather play Dayton, but if it is VCU then so be it. I’m not terribly worried about either of them if we show up to play.

this is one of those strange years where if seeding holds through Thursday, all four top seeds will play teams that went 9-9 in conference. no real benefit to the one seed...it all just comes down to matchups. I'd rather see GMU out of that mix as well (I don't think the A10 purposely made them them the 5 seed btw), but if RI plays as well on Friday as they did up until a week ago it won't matter.

The seeding was based on tie breakers. The league didn’t arbitrarily slot the teams that finished 9-9.

yup, that was my reasoning for wanting them. only Tillman can do damage. too many other players on Dayton can step up.

Plus we have VCU's number lately...5-0 the last 1+ seasons

I guess I don't understand the tie-breaker rules since, VCU has a better overall record, and split the season matchups 1-1 with GMU while having identical conference records.

overall record has nothing to do with conference tie breakers.

Three or More-Team Tie

1. Head-to-head competition.

a. Use each team’s record against the tied teams as a group rather than performance
against individual teams. When comparing records against a group of teams, the higher
winning percentage will prevail. In case of tied percentages vs. the team or group of
1.000 or .000, the following shall apply: 2-0 is better than 1-0; 0-1 is better than 0-2.

2. If the above results in two teams remaining, the two-team tiebreaker is used.

3. If more than two teams still remain, use the Conference record of the tied teams based on
winning percentage versus the highest common opponent and proceeding down to the
lowest common opponent, if necessary, until one team gains an advantage.

a. All ties are broken in descending order.
b. When arriving at another pair of tied teams, use each team’s record against the tied teams
as a group. When comparing records against a group of teams, the higher winning
percentage will prevail. In case of tied percentages vs. the team or group of 1.000 or .000,
the following shall apply: 2-0 is better than 1-0; 0-1 is better than 0-2.

4. Draw lots.
