Apologies again (valpo)for being so secretive but we have added a non conference road game. Apparently Joe lunardi reviewed the schedule and suggested another one. I think you'll like it. Go Rhody!

Hmm that's a fun tidbit. Thanks Neil!

This is great news, with the new way road games are being rated by the NCAA, this is a smart move. Is this a home and home Neil?

When is the schedule being released officially?

Any hints? A P5 team? A one time buy game or H and H?

Schedule may be even more critical since one of the NIT Tip-Off games may be vs a non D1 opponent (Oakland City) and not count for RPI and NCAA selection purposes. Given that, it is important to schedule the maximum number of allowed games (URI has not done that in several recent years).

Last seasons full nonconference schedule was released one year ago today.

I would assume it is a home and home. This team won twenty games the past two years.

Interesting, glad it's a home and home. Can you say if it's a BCS level opponent?

Oh fun...a game of 20 questions!

If he isn't at liberty to name the school, just let it come out. I promise it will not be a mystery forever.

I tried to see if I could narrow the possibilities down by identifying teams that have won 20 games in each of the last 2 years. Unfortunately, there are 71 Division 1 schools that have done so that are not already on our schedule (though some of these teams would be much bigger draws than others). I'll take a wild guess and say that it will wind up being either Cincinnati, Monmouth or Towson, but I'll predict that it'll ultimately be Monmouth (to be clear - no inside info, just pure speculation on my part).

Monmouth released their schedule already and URI is not on it. They curiously only have three games listed for the NIT Tip-off. If URI was to be playing them this year, it would have made sense that it was in an NIT Tip-Off game. I therefore highly doubt it is them.

I heard possibly at Nevada, though there were some other rumors floating of schools initially being willing to play us and then backing out. Nevada would be interesting as they just won the Mountain West last year. Not sure how good they're supposed to be this year though.

Not saying this is the game Neil is talking about but just a rumor I heard a few weeks ago.

Dre: I think you nailed it. Nevada should be a bit down this year. Two starters graduated and a third, Cameron Oliver, declared for draft.

I was told Nevada also, Nov. 13th.

If it's Nevada on the 13th, that's some tough scheduling. Open on the 11th, fly two thirds of the way across the country for Nevada on the 13th, then fly back to Kingston and most likely play our other NIT home game in very short order.

Same here!
I've never seen him play basketball well.
Delroy absolutely annihilated him.
Maybe the best performance I've seen by a Rhody player.

Yup, that was 100% domination by Delroy. Easily one of the most complete performances I've seen from a Rhody player. How anyone thought Babbitt could play at the next level after that game is beyond me.

In fact, Delroy in that entire NIT run was amazing to watch. No one could guard him in those games and he fully broke out and became a star against top competition (Nevada, VT, UNC)

Delroy also destroyed Duke. Most here mention Jimmy Jrs shooting when referring to that game.

Delroy couldn't be stopped down there in Durham. Or in Mackal his freshman year.

Don't see Rice listed on the staff on the Nevada website, though they do have former LSU coach Johnny Jones listed as the associate head coach.

For those who remember him, Hallice Cooke will play his senior year this season at Nevada. He's had quite a collegiate ride. Graduated from St. Anthony in 2013, committed to Oregon State, transferred to Iowa State, had major hip surgery, ruled ineligible because of a heart condition, somehow later cleared to play, now at Nevada.

Neveda also has the Martin twins from NC Stats eligible this year. Glad this is game two before this team has time to jell.
