Ramu-how did Flemings kid get hired?
Anyone know?

Dan Hurley's brother Bob was hired but by Athletics and "reported" to a different supervisors... i.e. Thor... I'm pretty sure this is exactly what happened with Fleming's kid... nothing to do about nothing here...

Northern-URI football is not the place for on the job training or nepotism.
Flemings son play calling was terrible last year. Other than being the coaches son he has no business being in the huddle.

Hal-that is your opinion and I'm pretty sure that this isn't anything new in coaching. Kirk Ferentz kid was on his staff at Iowa at one point I believe...

Northern-am not the only booster who feels this way.

Thorr wanted Fleming to hire an OC....I guess Fleming convinced him to give his son another chance...but it's their asses on the line.

I can't believe Thorr went for it.
Maybe the job does not pay enough for outsiders?

I don't know. Fleming still has at least one year left after this one and might have another year after that. I know Thorr fired Trainer with a year left, but would he fire Fleming with two to go? And if he fires Fleming, then what? Do you just keep hiring the same general level of coach and hope one of them gets supremely lucky?

If football bombs again - fire Fleming and son - hire new coach at same pay - MOVE DOWN a division that will allow us to walk out after the game with a smile for a win.

Our peer schools are UNH, Maine, UAlbany, Stonybrook - Northeast public universities. Throw in Delaware and Towson within the CAA. This is where we belong. Why can't we complete with them? It isn't facilities - UNH was successful for years with the worst facilities in the CAA. And beyond that, what makes you think URI football would be more successful at a lower division? To be successful at any level it has to be important to the university and being a winning team has to be the measure. It is clear it has not been important for quite a while, and if that is the case going forward then it should be dropped.

I don't care who the offensive coordinator was last year. If your QB is overwhelmed and incapable, your offense is going to look bad. I'll withhold judgment on the OC until I can see how the offense looks with a competent passer.

By down a division I mean to a NEC type placement. It would be better than becoming BU, Northeastern or Vermont. Our problem I believe is the recruiting base we have to work from. Go to any RI high school game and you will see very few players that can compete in the CAA. Our facilities are closer to the level of the NEC and our Campus would be one of the top.
Just looking for some wins and an overall improvement of our athletic teams that would be possible by channeling resources now going to a dead end program.

Rhodywins-good idea in theory. But trying to play the odds. I 've tried it in competition,doesn't always work.
I am with Ed on this one. Stay where you should be and play to win. Current schedule is tough,but not impossible.
Rhody beat Brown,Brown beat Dartmouth,Dartmouth beat both UNH and Harvard.
Rhody beat Brown because they have more talent (and more than Dartmouth!!).
Dartmouth has coaching and confidence.
