I hate being the trendy pick by people who watched 2 maybe 3 games we played all year.
Hopefully our guys aren't reading this crap

These expectations would've scared me before, but seeing as how we've learned all year how to deal with them and the team we are now, I LOVE em. Just more confidence.

Also FWIW "bracket expert" Jason Coppa has them winning the national championship.

Absolutely. I feel the same way. I don't care who their trendy pick is.This year it seems to be us, but over the years, it could be anyone. And typically their trendy picks don't do very well. I listened to both Mile Simon and Corey Alexander rave about us. It sounded like a scripted rant by 2 guys, who may be knowledgeable, but as BAR says, have probably seen us twice and Creighton 3 or 4 times. The publicity and notoriety is great, but call me superstitious, I don't care it when you got everyone on board and we haven't even played a tournament game yet.

I can also guarantee you that every other word out of Dan Hurley's mouth at practice is "I haven't forgot about Fordham." I don't think this is a team that will get caught up in the hype.

While the positive pub is good, I would prefer Hurley being able to play the disrespected card in the locker room. But Fordham may be enough of a reminder in the locker room.

We aren't gonna get caught up in all the hype.
We've been through alll that mess before.
We will be locked in and ready for Creighton.

I have felt myself beginning to worry because of all the analysts picking us, but thats just meaningless superstition creeping into my noggin. The worst it could do is make Creighton more fired up as if they weren't already fired up to play in the NCAA tournament.

Maybe it'll just give us some more confidence.
Gotta keep knocking down threes somehow!

I agree BM. I'm not actually concerned about the team not handling it well, it's more of a superstitious thing, that teams don't seem do to well, when all these espn and cbs guys collectively over hype them. Plus, not that Creighton should need any extra incentive, but its great locker room material. They certainly and rightfully feel very disrespected. It will have no impact on the game, but just gives me bad feeling. I am confident in team regardless.

While the pundits may like us the betting lines favor Creighton.

Well. not by much now RF1. three have the game even, two have it URI - 1 and three have it Creighton
- 1. so to say the betting lines have it Creighton is not exactly accurate. clearly there is no consensus
pick in this game which in my mind kind of favors URI as the 11 seed when the 6 seed is not a consensus
favorite. there is not much conviction on the Creighton side right now.

Lol this is awesome. I listen to CBS' "Eye on College Basketball" podcast and on Monday Norlander like "I've got Rhode Island in the Elite 8, I have no idea what I'm doing right now"

Uhoh .... just got jinxed. Charles Barkley just picked URI over Creighton ..... then again he could just be going for the trendy upset pick.

Earlier this week, Adam Schein on his show "Time to Schein" on CBS said "last week I guaranteed URI would make the Tournament and I guarantee URI will beat Creighton"

Pretty bold predictions from him that came to fruition. I used to find him obnoxious but now I think he is very insightful and thought-provoking.
