......we can't let up in any way, I think the coach and team will be focused and locked in on the work ahead, the road to our super bowl has a stop over in Philly......I would expect Martelli will have his group up for this game win the motivation to be A-10 spoilers.....especially against us.....let's hope we are only playing against five....

I'll be in FL next week, so I guess I'll see. Is it a national network?

Yeah ASN basically gets picked up by other regional sports networks. I have UVerse out here and I get these games usually on NESN or YES or one of the Fox Sports regional channels in my Sports package.

Just looked at NESN for Wednesday. Regular NESN (DISH 412) is carrying ACC women's basketball. But 412 ALT is carrying the URI/Joe's game. I'm not sure if we'll get it here or not.

I'm not really worried about this one, St. Joe's is 3-13 since Newkirk's injury and have lost eight in a row. I don't see us laying a stinker like La Salle 1 or Fordham, those games came off crushing defeats where the team might have thought their season and chance of an at large was over. We're coming off of our second best win of the year and the team should have renewed optimism. I suppose we can have a game like Richmond where we execute ridiculously poorly, but I'm doubtful St. Joe's is good enough at this point to capitalize even if that happens.

Just remember the absurd officiating that we seem to get
year after year at St. Joe's.
They can tip the balance, and often have.
Granted, this is a really down year for the Hawks,
but anything is possible.
Remember us at Dayton last year, with a
depleted roster, blowing the Flyers out.

IIRC, there was a game down there a few years ago that we took a solid lead into halftime, but three or four minutes into the second half we were in foul trouble, as if the three blind mice realized what they were being paid for.

The board has it right. some funny stuff goes on with officiating at St. Joes all the time. This season
I don't think even that will help The Hawks this time. Got to have this victory and then roll on one game
at a time as the rams have been doing. the next game IS THE GAME, and after that we see where things stand.

Martelli got ejected from a game at home earlier this year for arguing with the officials. Versus Bona, I believe? Maybe means they're not dealing with his crap when he's team's in a down year.

I don't believe in conspiracy theories for the league. But, if it did exist, wouldn't it benefits the league to have us win? Unless, of course, people believe the league is just against us.

Also, I just checked my FIOS tv guide and the game is listed for NESN+ on Wednesday. Good news.

This always bothers me, when we have to play a team that has a long consecutive loss streak going. Just that feeling like they're due for a win, and URI is typically just the team to help them out. Hope I'm wrong!

I can't keep up with the math on this one. Usually it is 5 against 8, but if they have their best players hurt it must be something else.

Any Rhody follower knows enough to not look past St. Joes, especially at Joes.

I feel like our guys have turned a corner.
We may have found our groove finally.
It is possible we come in overconfident since we destroyed them last time.
But I'm sure they know they can't come out flat against anybody.

We need to win the next two and not rest on this VCU victory.

If he has been up for 36 hours trying to figure out how they are going to complete a pass against us, then I would say we have a very good chance of beating them.

If this is his normal scouting routine then it should be no surprise why his team is 10-18 overall and 3-13 in conference play.

Who cares? It's a nice thing to say.

Also it's interesting how Hurley said they really drilled down on defensive principles. Our kenpom offensive efficiency has gone down but our defensive efficiency has gone up. Right now they're playing defense the way I was expecting them to all season. A good sign going into the a10 tournament.

Our D really has been the key.
Since the Richmond game our D has really dominated and has given us a chance to win every game.
It's been the first real consistent thing we've had thus far.
That's been the difference.
We are getting better.

I'm not too nervous about this game.
I think we will blow out St Joes big time.

"Delighted"? Haha... Who says "delighted"? He is really "delighted" that Jarvis is back on the court? C'mon...

Saint Joseph's coach Phil Martelli -- 'I've been up for 36 hours trying to figure how we're going to complete a pass against Rhode Island.'........To me, this quote is Martelli already talking to the refs. Obviously, completing a pass is a football term, not a basketball term. So, if we play defense like a football team, sounds like Martelli is telling the refs he'd like some PI calls. At least that's what I thought when I first saw that quote.

Interesting we play St Joseph's on the road and they have LOST 8 straight games. VCU plays Dayton on the road and they have WON 8 straight games

Could be interesting to see how VCU responds from their loss to Rhody

I won't rest easy until this game is in the books. Past history tells us a lot of strange things (most of it relating to the officiating) favorable to St. Joe's frequently happens in their gym.

I've been pretty critical of St. Joe's and Martelli, but I think this is reading too much into the quote. I mean, they're still called passes in basketball, and it's not like two years ago when he said he'd love to see one of our practices because it must be hand to hand combat. It sounds like a coach who lost by 30 to us earlier in the year, has seen their team struggle even more since, and going up against a team who's improved defensively since then.

Dowtin certainly had a rough shooting game against VCU, but none the less I really want to see more minutes with JD and JG both on the floor. Two play makers, I believe, helps alleviate the turnovers that Terrell and EC tend to make when they have to do more than they can handle. Both PGs on the floor creates lanes for Terrell to drive and EC to have himself set and ready to shoot.

And if this all doesn't happen, fine, now we know. But need to see that more.
