This would be HUGE if we get this guy imo......

Might come down to whether he wants to get splinters on the Kansas bench...or play a big role [20-25 minutes or more a game] here.

Billyboy, Dan needs to move in with Shakur for now.....fuck Kansas...they are probably going to win the national title here soon......that's enough.....they need to go away.

He can do everything. We get him, we are a slam dunk NCAAT team next season.

He looks ready made body wise....and if Kansas wants him, you know he's good.

Why don't they [Kansas] stick to 4 year recruits?

He's from NJ....come much closer to home, please. If we get him, that might be the kicker.

If we want him, we should be all over him......of course playing in Kansas, coaches out there can be at his games a lot more than we can.

Hopefully Dan, David, or ARD can be there Saturday.

With him being a Jersey kid, there's a possibility that him and Carr already have some sort of relationship.

Billyboy, I would hope that Dan would talk to recruits about that situation.

I think GTown will make a decision by early in the week.

I think they pick Ewing.....might not be their best choice imo but that's the one I think they choose.

This shouldn't drag out...and if Dan isn't their choice then I think he's here at least another year. I don't think Dan is in play for any other opening as of now, correct?

Final Score in National Championship Game Tonight:
Hutchinson 84
Eastern Florida State 58
Shakur Juiston 27 minutes, 7-13 FGs, 5-6 FTs, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks, 3 TOs, 1 Foul, 18 points
Shakur named MVP of the Tournament

Announcers said Shakur may be the best rebounder they have ever had at Hutchinson with the best being Ben Davis who played for Kansas 1 year, then Hutchinson, then Arizona for 2 years. Was drafted 2nd round to NBA and played 2 years with Phoenix Suns and 2 years with NY Knicks then overseas.

Juiston is an excellent player. Often he was the trailer on the fast breaks, of which there were many, in case of a rebound opportunity. Runs the floor fast and smooth. Special passing ability for a big man as his 7 assists tonight reflect. High Major talent for sure.

For the 4 games in the Tournament Juiston had 88 points and 56 rebounds

Maybe he is good enough to be a big factor for Kansas, but he also will have to realize he will be competing against 4 and 5 star guys for minutes and relevancy. I know KU has a 6' 10" 5 star coming in next year. Depends on what he may be looking for. There are guys that just want to be part of that type of big time program and willing to sacrifice a bigger role and also kids that want to step right in, with a solid team like URI and have a much bigger role and potentially be a star. Like I say, maybe he is good enough to walk right onto KU campus and be a star. That would more than likely be a problem.

I'm told that Carr has been involved in recruiting Juiston for several years and they have a good relationship.

Kansas is absolutely loaded at PF...Carlton Bragg, a 5* PF.... and one of the top '17 high school players in the country 5*PF Billy Preston, along with a couple of others. I'm not sure where Shakur finds PT with that roster.

I don't get any of this.
Hurley goes to watch a player who already
committed, instead of going to watch
a player this team desperately needs?
Makes very little sense.

An opportunity for Dan to make an impression,
without anyone from Kansas around.

We need this kid. Signing him would alleviate a lot of pressure on the younger guys... To me, this would essentially be plug-and-play with Hass. Not taking away from Hass, either, but this kid seems like he could ultimately be an improvement for our front court. He seems to have that "fire" that Hass showed at times but had a hard time bringing consistently this year... but retains every bit of skill that Hass had. He appears a bit more polished on offense... the one area I'm not sure he could really compare is blocking shots.

At 6'7". 215 LBs, Juiston seems more of a
replacement for Iverson.
Langevine looks as though he has the Martin role wrapped up.
Juiston offers offense, and rebounding.
Can't speak to his defensive ability.
Remember, our top recruit never played, because
of lack of defense.
Same with Earl Watson, in the two seasons before.
Same with Berry for two years.
My question is, if these players were so deficient
on defense, why were they recruited?
Will Juiston be in the same situation if he came here?
This is a legitimate question.
Competing coaches don't miss this, and word
gets out in the basketball recruiting world.
As we've seen over and over in the NCAAs, frontcourt
players who can score and rebound are needed to win.

I agree with you there, I guess I liken him more to Hass than Iverson based off their physical size/height. I personally think that a player like Laysarrd or Berry could never get to speed on defense because they aren't getting minutes... I can't help but think that their lack of minutes is a punishment for their frame. It's no secret that both could probably tighten up around the midsection... This Juiston kid certainly doesn't have that problem!

Your question about defense could be more poignant than we think. Maybe that's why Dan hasn't made the trek out to Kansas himself?

And if I am Fatts, while I am sure it is great to see the support, I think I would be saying, I am coming coach, I'd rather see you out trying to get a key recruit to play with me. Dean or Cox would have been nice attendees too.

Sounds like Carr was on him early, establishing a connection, when he may have been a bit under that radar. Now, as we have seen other recruits we get in on early andthen blos up, tend to be swayed by the power schools. And in his remarks, has 9 schools and is still open to new offers. Not a good feeling on this one.

Good to see the positive attitude about Dan lasted less than 1 week. I am going to trust that Carr and Dan know what they are doing with recruiting more than the experts on this board.

I doubt Juiston had a lot of time for college coaches before or after the national championship game. Maybe Dan would rather spend time with Shakur one-on-one at his home or on campus at URI.
