Holloway's quote and what I'm about to post are all on umasshoops.com. I can't say I know any of the UMass players handles
Pipkins on Twitter.
WOW WOW WOW WOW IS ALL I CAN SAY
Then in reply to a comment about transferring he posted a neutral face emoji

I think the younger UMass players are truly in shock.......that comment about loyalty doesn't sound too good for the prospects of them staying.
If some leave, it would be to another conference.....transfers within a conference means a 2 year waiting period....

I woulda thought he would have gotten to coach these recruits he got..Pipkins and Jarreau will/would be all A10 players soon enough.

Interesting and good call.
Talent on that team is ridiculous if they can keep it intact.
Not surprised, he made a few lineup moves today and it all backfired.
I fear we are going have to shortly deal with a strong uMass program.

57, not for at least a couple years if there are multiple transfers....and next season I expect Dayton to fall off a little.....still be top third of the conference though......
And what if Wade leaves VCU? If we could get a couple of decent bigs via the transfer route.....we could finally be the top dog next season?

Good call UMass!
Kellogg was no good.
Sounds like his guys will be transferring.
In all likelyhood.
Those young guys came there for him though obviously, feel kinda bad for them.
That'll shake up their worlds for a little bit.

Not surprised. I always thought UMass underachieved given their talent level. A good game coach would do well as long as he can keep the talent.

reef says so, it's official! My only hope is UMass does not bring Skinner in, that would make too much sense and give them a serious short term boost.

A firing during the tournament is a bit unusual. Leagues typically don't like their premier event upstaged in any way.

The earlier the better maybe.....they might want to get someone on board [who isn't still playing of course] before the Final Four games.
Also the spring signing period is only about 5 weeks away.

At least Kellogg did it once.

I think I'll write Greg Amadio to seriously consider him.......In his [Amadio] positions at Xavier and Duquesne, he must know him, and know Kellogg can really recruit. Quinnipiac has no $$ limitations, and the MAAC might be a good fit for him.

Not the type of attention you want at any time, let alone when you are hiring. Probably was an additional factor to Kellogg being fired. Things seem to be a real mess in Amherst. There have been a lot of rumors going back for some time about players transferring, including their stud recruits from the past year. All of this may better explain their play in the last two months.

Duquesne fires Ferry
No real surprise. Looks like they waited until the Tournament (which took place across the street from its campus) was out of town. he was hired at the same time as Hurley with both of them coming from the NEC (Ferry at LIU and Hurley at Wagner).

Re: Duquesne fires Ferry
That's a tough job, maybe second to Fordham.
They had winning record under Ron Everhart and
went to three post season tournaments.
Why they fired him, is beyond me.
Ferry never lived up to what many felt he
might do, when he was hired.

Re: Duquesne fires Ferry
Duquesne is a Dead Program.
Fordham isn't Dead, but it shouldn't be in the A10.
Both teams should be out of the league as out liars in terms of success, infrastructure, and institutional support with respect to the rest of the modern A10.

Re: Duquesne fires Ferry
Preston's too smart to take a dead end job like Duquesne.
Funny, back in the 60's and earlier, Duquesne was an
Eastern power.
They had some significant players.

Re: Duquesne fires Ferry
I'm kind of surprised by this. There's talk that Duquesne is looking to spend $40 million to upgrade the Palumbo Center and associated facilities. If they do that they will have to play in an alternate venue next season. Seems like you'd be better off riding with Ferry for one more season so your next coach doesn't have to deal with the renovation inconveniences and bringing in a new coach and renovated arena at the same time should lead to maximum excitement and optimism in the fan base.
