I wonder what the waiver request was based on? I believe NCAA came out with a statement this summer thst they were going to reduce the number of waivers granted.

From Hofstra site today:
I like the “thankful to both the NCAA and Rhode Island for their support of the waiver” part. Good for us, good for Omar.
"We appreciate the NCAA's understanding of Omar's case and are thankful to both the NCAA and Rhode Island for their support of this waiver," commented Hofstra Head Men's Basketball Coach Joe Mihalich. "Omar has a very important support system here at Hofstra and with his family nearby we look forward to him becoming an integral part of the Hofstra community."

I envision Omar going closer to home to play.....lots of choices in the Metro New York area....I think there was a death in his family this past year....maybe he gets a waiver on sitting out a year to be closer to his family at home....

Looks like Omar is transferring to his 4th school due to a coaching change.

Re: '18 NY G - Omar Silverio (Hofstra Transfer)
Not playing for Manhattan, and if he's landed somewhere else, it doesn't seem to be publicly known yet. Since he was a graduate transfer, if he doesn't show up on a roster by January, he might be done. After the surprise, late firing of Maisello, interim head coach RaShawn Stores was able to retain some of the roster, but the Japsers are 3-6.

I was just checking out West Virginia’s roster and noticed Omar was listed. The guy can’t catch a break these days. First Manhattan, now this.

The last 3 schools Jose Perez has played for his coach has been fired/resigned.
