They chuck up ~40 threes per night. They shot it poorly against Vandy but made a bunch against WKU. I'll be interested to see how they play against Florida tonight.

Their defense was among the worst in the country last year so we should be able to score at will.

We must defend well against the three. If they hot it could be an uncomfortable night.

Defending the 3 has been a strong suit of ours in the past, so that will be interesting to see.

The Belmont Bruins men's basketball team represents Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Belmont joined the Ohio Valley Conference in July 2012, leaving behind their previous home of the Atlantic Sun Conference. They play their home games at Curb Event Center and are currently coached by Rick Byrd. The Bruins made their seventh appearance in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament in 2015.

At the time of this much-researched (or plagiarized - take your pick) posting, they were 1-2 and don't play close games. 2 losses - by 24 to Vandy and 17 to U of F, and a 21 point win over the Hilltoppers of WKU. ( A high school classmate of mine went to WKU and wound up caddying for many years for Kenny Perry...which is more interesting than anything else I could find out about the Bruins).

KenPom has them ranked at #101. Rhody is the only ranked team on their schedule right now. Interesting schedule...they play Lipscomb twice in a week. Averaging 25 wins/year over the last 6, last year's 20 wins was their lowest since 09-10.

We should continue their streak of playing lopsided games, in their case, a loss.....about 20 sounds about right.

Since they beat Western Kentucky so bad you'd think that they will win 20 plus games again and be at the top of the OVC.
The way they play just doesn't work against teams with great athletes like we have.

.....attendance thoughts??.....Black Friday......students gone.....time for some of those local casual fans to start showing up to see a very legit Top 25 team, right in their own backyard....

7,638 (fall 2015) students live in Rhode Island. I'd guess a large number also live in surrounding states. I'm hopeful we'll be able to round up 500 students whether we're on break or not.

I think attendance will be close to 5000.

Yeah this will be a low attendance for sure. Be prepared for the outrage that ignores all the practical circumstances as to why.

PC had half the number of people show up to their game yesterday compared to their game against UVM. Probably not a good sign.

Won't be there - but did my part and gave my 2 seats to someone who will be. Hopefully they get 4500 in there. Students will not be there in force though.

Don't sleep on the Bruins!! They have had a nice little run the last decade plus.

This is a team that good sneak up on Rhody and play then tough, especially if the 3's start falling for Belmont.

URI has been great defending the 3 in Hurley's time so I think URI will win but it will be closer than most seem to think.

Bradds is going to get his. Have to keep the other players from going off. Should be able to turn this team over.

Belmont was originally in the Pier Marketplace.

......love our board.....for the record, Belmont started as just a veg and fruit market in Wakefield next to former Newport Creamery....which is now Moe's and Five Guys......the Pier Marketplace edition of Belmont came as a spin off of the Belmont upscale store that moved down to the end of the plaza in Wakefield...can't believe I chimed in here on this, but I love my grocery stores....

Back to the Division-1 basketball team, it looks to me that we have a good perimeter defense we should be able to shut these guys down.

Agreed, although Cincy and Duke hit a good number vs rhody last weekend, but I'm sure Danny will have his boys with their hands high on the three pointer Friday.

That Washington kid on Cinci was out of his mind in the first half!! Duke is Duke, they're going to get their looks. I expect our D to shut down this Belmont team Friday.

So named because the owner won a bunch of money on the Belmont, according to legend.

Who was guarding him most of the time? I dont remember, was he guarded by a bigger guy and thats why he was totally free outside? His threes were pretty open if I remember correctly.

That kid (Washington) is a nice player - inside and outside game. I think Kuran and Hassan both took turns on him. He was a tough cover.

I hope the few days between Duke and Belmont games have is ready to come out firing on Friday

That site is hard to read, but it is saying we opened at -5 (which is hard to understand) but are now a consensus -12.5 favorite. That seems a little more like it.

ESPN now showing Rhody by 12 1/2

Some in vegas still, showing 5 points so people who got in or get in with Rhody favored by only 5 get a great deal.
This will not be an easy game for URI and it is important to simply win it.

I see -12.5 I think Rhody wins by 15 so I think there is value in taking URI

Two organizations now have URI -13. Interesting and very unusual, that it did open at Rhody -5. Likely because early in season and not two heavily bet schools tomestablish a line quickly. But those who got Rhody at -5 got a steal.

yeah, Rhody -5 is easy money. And the ESPN preview is showing -12.5 now.

as long as we come out and play disciplined tight defense, our athleticism should keep us in their faces all night

Good info from Belmont website
I did not realize that Bradds has led the NCAA in FG % in each of the past two years.
