RPI is 40 at this moment.

put in a win vs the bonnies and a loss to dayton puts URI at an RPI of 41

putting in winning vs SBU, a win vs Dayton and a loss to VCU is an RPI of 31

Very solid numbers and resume to submit to the selection committee

twisted said on the A10 board that if we had beaten Fordham, our RPI would be 28 instead of 40.

That Fordham loss is really what bothers me when I look at our resume. If we had one fewer loss...any one, I would feel much better. It is what is, as they say...just WIN!

Every team in the country lays an egg, that shouldn't stop us from being in this tourney. For example our worse two losses are Fordham (212) and Lasalle (128)...compared to PC who has three bad losses including DePaul (230) BC (211) and St. John's (137). No way our RPI could shift that much or else PC's would have skyrocketed more than it is now (55) compared to URI (40) but who's counting RPI these days anyways right???. Only using PC since they're comparable.

True, almost every team lays an egg, but when you are solidly in or out, it's just a loss ...but when you didn't take care of business earlier and are on the "bubble" it's magnified and potentially fatal.

We would be sitting pretty right now at 22-8 instead of 21-9

GW is rpi 101, davidson 106 and wiiliiam and mary 113. If they did not use the arbitrary 100 cutoff we would have 8 113 wins

75% of RPI is based on our opponents or their opponents. Can't be surprised at this. Difference between spots in this area of the RPI rankings is in the thousandths of a point.

This and other teams (like Michigan for example) won while we were idle, so if they were just behind us now they are just ahead of us. Worry about what it looks like on Sunday. Who is ahead of who on a minute to minute basis doesn't matter. Also, it's just math - you can't get mad at math, there is no math conspiracy to screw you out of RPI spots.

Friday morning bracket matrix
63 of 121 have Rhode Island in
68 of 121 have Syracuse in

Middle Tennessee and Wichita State are key if they do not win their Conference Tournaments

Need to win St Bonaventure today and defeat the winner of Davidson/Dayton on Saturday

RPI dropped again to 45 on realtimerpi. I get the basic idea of the rpi but even so, It confuses the hell out of me, teams on our schedule won yesterday. 3 spots is a big drop. BS

Wichita State already beat Illinois State last Sunday and got the MVC automatic bid. Illinois State is now sweating it out on the bubble.

CBS has us at 40, ncaa hasn't updated.

A win today would get us into the 30s and I would think locks it up, unless uconn, ucf, or bama steals a bid, or we lost to Richmond instead of VCU.

Nope RPI doesn't make much difference now. Committee uses it for arbitrary Top 100/50/25 wins but also ignores a teams OWN ranking which devalues the equation.

that would explain why Syracuse with an RPI in the 80's is even bubble team.

Using the objective RPI rating meant too many non power conference teams might make the tourney. The NCAA powers could not allow that. A more subjective process gives them much more flexibility to select the power conference teams they want.

kinda BS since a team like Syracuse in the ACC has more opportunities to play higher ranked teams

hurts us big time

If the ACC gets 10 teams and atl 10 only 2 teams it's an absolute disgrace and that could happen

ACC with 10 of 15 is not as bad as the Big East getting 7 of 10.

They also get them at home, which is a giant advantage.

So let me get this straight...they don't give heavy weight to your RPI anymore when determining if you should be in the tourney...BUT they give heavy weight to the RPI of the teams you played to see if you beat top 100, 50 and 25 teams...So your own RPI that says you are the X best team in the country is not good enough, but the same RPI is used to determine if you beat a top 100, 50, 25 team? So RPI is accurate enough to determine the ranking of the teams you played, but not you?

Yes, pretty ridiculous isn't it ? Keep in mind that it is really all about protecting the money conferences
and nothing else. Whatever justifies putting those teams in will be used on a case by case basis. There
otherwise would be no other reason to consider teams like Syracuse and others. it is the reason thse
teams won't play teams like URI because it would expose the myth that the power conference teams are
far superior. They are not. There is a fine line among the top 150 teams and it is getting even smaller each
year. even leagues like the A 10 are guilty of looking down on leagues like the southern and Patriot and so
forth. Until scheduling is taken away from the schools and the leagues are basically broken up it won't change.
and that s probably never going to change.

Rhode Island enters the NCAA Tournament with:

24-9 Record
31 RPI
55 SOS
26 OOC SOS

It was a fun ride, looking at the continuously updated chart below.
