URI is 4-5 against the spread this year. You wouldn't be broke if you took them every time.

Gotta think Rhody is going to come in fired up and focused having had 2 weeks to stew on the JMU game. Elon isn't very good either at just 2-7 (1-5).

The Phoenix are just 1-4 with there one home victory coming against Fayetteville State.

URI's last road win was September 14, 2013 when they won at Albany in overtime 19-13.

Yes I would say you're crazy to think Rhody is going to get a W on the road against a team with a better record than them.

Elon lost to Towson at Towson last Saturday 23-6. Both Elon and Towson have 1 CAA win. URI plays Towson their last game of the season at URI.
It is quite Possible Rhody ends the season with a 2 game win streak. These games are much more winnable for us than many of the previous games this season.

It's nice to know that there are a couple other CAA teams that are almost as shitty as us....yay!

A touchdown pass from Vazzano puts the Rams up 10-7 with under 2 minutes remaining in the 2nd half. As strange as it sounds, URI has been in control of the game, doing a good job of moving the ball on the ground. The Elon touchdown came on a pick 6 on the very first play from scrimmage.

Crazy play to end the half, and the Rams really dodged a bullet. URI completes a pass with 14 seconds left to Harold Buckner. He runs around for 14 seconds and gets tackled with no time left on the clock at the 5 yard line. Refs review the play, and determine there was 1 second left when he gets tackled. URI kicks a field goal and take a 13-7 lead into the locker room. Vazzano has completed 7 of his last 8 passes to end the half.

Half time Stats show vazzano with a punt for 35 yards. Was that a surprise quick kick on a 3rd down? Or did Graybar get hurt or something else?

4th and 6 from the 36. Vazzano was in shotgun, backed up two steps before the snap and punted it. It was perfectly executed, and we downed it on the 1. They went 3 and out, which gave us good field positioning, leading to our touchdown.

Ok, but seriously, great way for the guys to bounce back. I watched Towson beat William and Mary earlier today, they looked good. Should be a tough final game.

Cooper just had an absolutely unbelievable touchdown. WOW... got an inside handoff, reverses the field, then reverses again, goes up the middle and outruns all of the Elon defenders. Have to see a replay of this TD.

Good for the players and staff after what happened two weeks ago. It can't be easy being a URI football player when your university and community does not support you. Losing nearly every week and constantly hearing stories about how your program should be cut must be demoralizing. The players and staff put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into the program. Most players in the last two decades have passed through lucky to walk off the field in victory just a handful of times (5 to 8 wins) while losing near 40 games. It must be tough. I hope they enjoy this win and get another vs Towson.

URI starts a freshman QB and several other Freshmen
They dominated on offense, defense, special teams and I will add coaching was and contributor too

Give The team credit. Don't have to discredit the opposition as if our team is simply not capable of winning like this in their own right.

Consider the youth of this team and how there just might be progress being made here

And to top it off they just came off a big loss to James Madison - these Guys could have hung it up, come out flat, sulked, wanted the season to already be over - but this team did just the opposite.

They get trashed a lot here, no need to say they won because Elon must suck worse that thought.

What a win, needed this one like a fat kid needs cake.

I watched the stream for the second half and I thought I heard their play-by-play guy state that we do not have an offensive coordinator. That Fleming who has spent most of his career as a defensive coordinator does it, and his son who was a linebacker and tight end in college is the QB coach. Today they scored 44 pts which is almost 30% of the total points they scored all season, and I wonder if we would be better off if we had a true OC...and a QB coach who played QB?

Talk about a coaching staff on the cheap....I did not know that....jeez....

Even with that, I guess we aren't the worst in the CAA any more...woo hooo

If true...that's just brutal....

Offensive coordinator was Bill Bliel that came from Iowa State. He left to go to a D2 school somewhere in the Mid-West, which is where he has spent most of his time coaching (Northern Illinois, Akron, Iowa State etc)

Bliel went to Missouri Southern State University in Joplin Missouri.

Except for the bonehead picksix 13 seconds in. The URI RAM FOOTBALL team played really well. Let's get one more.

Regarding the OC situation -all are correct except I do not think it is a financial situation.
Bleil-stunk,despite a good pedigree.So,exit stage left. The assumption of a good pedigree does not typically apply to URI FB.
The play calling was supposed to be by committee? They appear to opened up the offense more,witness Maine game and yesterday.
We finally saw the depth of talent at RB and receivers vs. Elon. Having Flemings son as QB coach is odd. The QBs have all looked raw until yesterday. Either they are not grasping what coach tells them or teaching them incorrect. There are plenty of ex players who coach positions other than they played in college. URI had Liam Coen at one point and he did not have huge impact and am certain his methods are great. Vazzano has a ton of potential. Lets see what happens next week. Towson is beatable. There was period of time where URI put out all YC QBS (78-85) like clock work-Tosches,Grimsich,Weinke and Ehrhardt. Why-cool under pressure.

I thought Fleming made the right move replacing Bleil. But not bringing in a real OC has been a disaster. Vazzano has real potential but their ability to coach this position is evident. I have yet to see any of the QBs look off receivers or make progressions. It is too often lock eyes on the first option and throw even if double covered. I had heard Thor was not happy with Fleming's decision to not bring in a true OC and would hope that this is addressed in the off season. Frankly, nepotism is never a good idea.
