Harvard is ranked 22nd in the latest FCS poll.

There are 5 CAA schools ranked in the Top 25, along with 2 CAA schools receiving votes. 7 out of the 11 CAA schools are ranked / receiving votes in the polls.

Albany jumps in Top 25 after their win against us

I had thought about going up to Harvard for this one. After the Albany game I'll probably pass.

So Kansas rushed the field after beating URI and Albany earned a spot in the Top 25. Did someone say powerhouse?

Looks like Vegas has caught up to how shitty this URI squad is. First two weeks the lines were easy money. Harvard -31 at least makes me think.

31 is a lot but c'mon it's Rhody.

Harvard -31 all day.

I'll be there. Harvard is like 15 mins from my work, and it's hard to pass up a Fri night game at a historic stadium regardless of the expected outcome.

Also, I laughed, TP.

Is it me or do a lot of CAA teams get ranked every season? Is the CAA the SEC or Big 10 of FCS or something??

Missouri Valley is probably the best conference with CAA being close 2nd

It's not funny, tp.
Barrett, I can't believe I'm to the point where
Rhody is playing at Harvard, and I don't want
to go. This program fucking sucks, and it makes
me sick. Tom Ehrhardt, Bob Griffin and co.
were huge reasons in my decision to want to
go to Rhody. The 50-point blowouts have to
stop. Somebody, please make a fucking play.
Coaches, please coach the kids up.
Administration, please fix the infrastructure.
College football is a great game, and Rhody
deserves a quality program.
I know I said last week that I was a little bit
more optimistic than I have been in a while,
but a fucking 30+point dog to Harvard?
This is worse than the fucking Jerry D shit.

Just flipped it on, 24-0 in the second quarter. Ouch.

If this isn't rock bottom URI then can't be too far from it.

Oh my god. Atrocious clock management at the end of the half. URI is so lucky to come out with a TD.

Rhody had 2 timeouts!!!!! Fleming asleep at the wheel.

I haven't watched any URI football until 5 minutes ago but that clock management says a lot about Fleming.

So sad...I can't blame Fleming entirely, since nobody has been able to win here consistently for 30+ years. The problems here run deep, and start with crappy facilities. College athletics is an arms race, and we have decided to sit it out (basketball excluded).

Last year in our first three games we lost at Syracuse, at Albany and home against Harvard by a combined score of 123-17. This year at Kansas, home against Albany, at Harvard it's a combined score of 141-34. Our average game is a 5 td loss, we lose each game by more then we've scored all year. Where is the promised improvement? What is the plan to get better?

I love this University and I want to see it succeed in every possible area, no matter how small and no matter how much I normally care about the field. Football I care a ton about, my first exposure to URI was going to one of the playoff games as a kid. I understand my attitude on the football side of things rubs people the wrong way because of how negative I am, but I can justify it to myself because this past year I was considered one of the people drinking the kool-aid when it came to basketball, so I tell myself that I'm just calling it as I see it. But at some point can't this team make me look like an idiot when it comes to assessing our chances? Can't they give us something to hang our hats on? Can't the administration give us something concrete to look forward to? It was in the governor's budget that this fiscal year a firm would assess the stadium situation. If that passed, tell us, advertise it, give us at least a glimmer of hope that it won't always be like this.

Where's the improvement? Where's the hope?

It's a goddamned shame and a disgrace. I've been trying to be patient and even a little guardedly optimistic that there might be a little improvement to just being competitive. But it's not happening unless we make a major investment, point blank period.

Some thoughts from the game:

- McKoy cannot start again. I was on the McKoy train since late last year and I'm willing to admit I was 100% wrong. I couldn't believe how many throws he left out there - probably looked much worse in person. Give me Mroz or Vazzano.
- This defense is really, really bad. Harvard was doing almost literally whatever they wanted on 3rd down. Also, is it me, or has every 3rd or 4th and short this season been a HUGE play for the opposition? It's like every 3rd and 2 is a 35 yard run / pass.
- Pick plays and WR screens were practically automatic 8+ yard gains for Harvard. Not sure why they didn't run them on every down.
- Decent amount of Rhody fans there. 12,000-ish attendance total. I'd guess 11k Harvard fans and 1K URI.
- Stadium is super unique and well worth it for a "once in a lifetime" thing.
- Thorr was there and holding court with some URI fans in the stands in the second half.
- Offense looked halfway decent post-McKoy, although a lot of it was in garbage time. They DESPERATELY need to sustain drives and keep the defense off the field. If they can do that, they might have a shot to win a game or two.

Did Thorr have anything constructive to say about the program when he was holding court?

I was not part of the court and wasn't that close to it. The only tidbit I picked up from it was at one point one guy yelled out "HASSAN MARTIN!", then high-fived another guy. So clearly not all of the discussion was about football.

Also, yelling Hassan Martin's name and high-fiving a person close to you should always be a thing.

More of the same, as expected, they weren't gonna improve over night. Let's hope they pull a few miracle wins and the AD to make a decision to invest real money.

Flemings handling of time outs always bad.
What is this obsession with McKoy??

When you get waxed by an Ivy team, your problems run a lot deeper than managing timeouts and the punter.

I wouldn't disparage Harvard because they are an Ivy League footbAll team just as I would not disparage a Harvard basketball team. They get some D1 caliber athletes who go there for the academics. Harvard was ranked #22 and will rise in rankings since this was their first game.
Plus they were home with 12000 attendance under the lights.
31.5 point favorites and we made Rhody betters happy losing by 30.

Denny with a nice game.
Not sure why Vazzano went from close to being the starter in The preseason competition to being 3rd option. He had a 49 yard pass to Denny.
I think I'd role the dice with Vazzano and put McKoy in another position on offense.

I'm disparaging anything. But URI should be able to compete with a team like Harvard with a roster full of scholarship players - as would every other CAA team.

I agree with you.
But Ivy League teams are no different than CAA teams.
Saying we shouldn't lose to an Ivy ream is like saying we shouldn't lose to a CAA team.

Not at all. My response was to the statement that we shouldn't lose like that to an Ivy League team. Harvard ranked #22 FCS is no different than losing to a 20th ranked CAA team. Ivy has nothing to do with it.

And losing by 30 doesn't mean I like it but these posters who predicted 4-6 wins before the season started were delusional. This team still has a long was to go. A #2 ranked recruiting class in CAA is a group of freshmen. This has to be followed up with more strong classes

I expected 1-2 wins this year. Expecting 4-6???? No wonder guys are besides themselves.
