Thanks reef!

As the Giants, unfortunate injury for Barkley out at least a month....but with that defense no matter how good Jones plays they weren't playoff bound anyway.

At least there's hope for the future!

One thing at a time. First, get some kind of functional offense going.
Second (and third) get some kind of functional offense going.
After those three things, work on some defense.

They get Tate and another receiver back after next week. Even with Barkley out, they should be pretty good on offense.

Defense? Maybe they should go after that malcontent in Jacksonville....you know, someone who can cover a fire hydrant.

Getting a couple of pass rushers will take longer.

What is this, the Giants are 2-2?

Looking at the Vikings today, they might have a shot to win next week!

The Giants and URI have one thing in common.....zero defense.

No pass rush, no linebackers.

Have to be realistic here....it's going to take some time for the Giants to be good again.

The great Jints teams could stop the run and pressure the QB....something this team can only dream of.

Pretty sure that smell y'all got yesterday was Nate Solder. That guy couldn't block a deflated beach ball. When the Pats review tape for Thursday's game - not sure why they'd bother - they will laugh their heads off at Nate Solder. I half think the guy will come down with some kind of injury and not be able to play. The Pats will flat out embarrass him off the field otherwise - it could get really ugly. BB must chuckle every time he sees that guy play now...why wouldn't he just go after him all night?

He was overpaid to begin with. Took advantage of the Giants desperate need for OL help.

Now he has his money, he could care less, or so it seems.

Still not good... While it isn't adding up to wins, at least DJ is more interesting to watch than Eli. He made some nice throws...had a couple drops... It just seemed like the Cards had the snap count all day and were in his face as soon as the ball was snapped. And that Saquon Barkley guy is one talented dude.

The Giants are another team that does just enough to lose.

But they have their franchise QB. And a budding star WR. And a good TE. And of course Barkley.

What they don't have is a defense...and other holes.

But I don't think they are far away from being good again.

Pass rushers and better linebackers are needed. badly.

Gettlemen needs to find them and get them. Or he needs to get out.

At least they're not the Jets. What a horrible O line....and Darnold is "spooked" lol...……

And Gase is dead coach walking.

Well, there's this: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/279 ... ams-giants

I think this line needed fixing....

Williams joins a Giants defense that desperately needs an influx of talent.

This is a gamble.

Williams will cost a lot of money if they sign him in free agency.

They gave up a 3rd and possibly a 4th round pick for nothing if they don't.

At 2-6, you would think the Giants will end up with a very high draft position next May.

Not so fast...there are FIVE teams with either one or zero wins.

Never seen so many bad teams at once in the NFL.

The Jets are 5.5 point favorites against the Dolphins in Miami this week.

Quick, where's my bookie....gotta find my wallet......the Jets 5 pt. favs against anybody is hilarious.

It didn't seem like a great deal for that reason. He's disappointed as a player so far, and if they manage to fix him, they're going to have to pay him. They could have waited until after the season to sign him when he got cut. Since they suck, their draft pick is close to the top of the third round, so they paid a similar price to what the Pats paid for Sanu, which was considered an overpay, but at least he's had some success in his career.

Even as Williams has disappointed, he's still an upgrade over most of what they have....he can stop the run, which the Giants aren't doing very well lately.

Edge rushers and LB's have got to be the priority going forward.

As for the Jets, it's tanking time as they are looking to let go of Anderson, their best healthy wideout.

What their plan is, is anybody's guess. Stockpiling draft picks is fine, if you know what to do with them.

The Jets have a new GM who is well-regarded; came over from Philly, who has an aggressive, well-regarded GM. However, he's a bit hamstrung by the deals the previous GM did, and the iffy ownership that hired Gase before him. This year and next year are probably just about clearing the rolls of bad contracts and maybe trying to get some offensive line help for Darnold, to see if he's the answer at QB.

Right now it's beginning to look like Danny Dimes might end up better than Darnold.

Both making plenty of mistakes, but Jones does have more weapons on offense.

Plus the O line for the Jets makes the Giants' O line look like the Cowboys.....

"Offensive" indeed.

The Giants had better beat the Jets this weekend and show they at least have a pulse.

Tonight they will compete, but find ways to lose...again.

At least they might become a decent team next season.....the other team in town will be looking for ANOTHER coach this offseason.

I'll go a sixer that Gase doesn't finish the season.

The Jints actually have a chance tonight. For all the talent they have, the Cowboys are one of the more knucklehead-ish teams out there.
They have enough talent + lack of intelligence to keep both teams in the game.

Gase is a deer in the headlights...and he even looks the part.

He has no answers. His team beats themselves as much as the opponents do.

Someday they will build an organization that will know how to build a team. Someday.

When teams are shitty year in and year out, it's always key to look at the owner. The Jets, Browns, Washington, Bengals and Lions, and other longtime bad to mediocre teams, the constant is typically awful ownership in one way or another. It wouldn't surprise me if the Giants win a Super Bowl before any of them, even though they're in the same place, because at least their group seems relatively stable, from a casual observer's standpoint. Much like the Steelers, I think they tend to be overly loyal, but better that than incompetent.

We'll see....Gettleman has a lot of work to do, to convince me he's the guy for the job.

He's made a couple good moves, and of course some that have had people scratching their heads.

Next year's draft and free agency moves will be especially crucial.

Giants have a chance tonight IF Jones doesn't turn it over.....well maybe no more than once.....

And if the defense shows up, which they never seem to do against Dallas.

Prescott seems to have a career game every time he plays the Giants.

The difference between good teams and bad ones are mistakes.

The Giants still are making too many. Jones has to learn to hold onto the ball. I think he will though, eventually.

Also too many penalties at crucial times. That's on the staff.

Add going 1 for 5 in the red zone touchdown wise. And the defense needs plenty of help, which will take time.

Like I've said, the Giants aren't terrible...they are in games, unlike the Jets....but still aren't going to win very many until they clean it up.

Ok, I'll bite..."Why?" Just kidding not really, these teams are a mess. When Francesa farted, talking about the Jets, it's pretty much downhill from there. I pretty much only watch the Giants to see some Saquon (plus it's a little bit of, "I can't believe they're on TV"). I had a FFL team many years ago and called it MyTeamStinx... this Jints team stinks and from what I hear, the Jets are atrocious, so maybe you're right

But...if you aren't a fan of either team...you'd probably need to get paid decent coin to watch it?

From Jason Gay in the WSJ...

Best case scenario: We get more Football Cat, running on the field. But, I just heard from Brian, the cat who famously disrupted Monday Night Football, who tells me he's instead going to see Frankie Valli in Red Bank that day, and he's not going to make it to the game. "I'm not going to waste one of my lives on Jets-Giants", Brian said.

My advice...get outdoors. Step outside, feel the sun on your face, enjoy the beauty or the natural world. Then get in the car, drive to the sports bar and watch the Bears-Lions game instead."

My prediction... The Jets are awful, but the Jints are bad at tanking, which might be worse. Jints by two in what @reef would call "a war"

Let's see...2 teams who can't defend, and can't protect their QB.....should be a classic.

I would think the Giants win this, but no Engram or Sheppard.

Aaarrrgghhhhh! Somebody has to win! Well they could tie...would be hilarious.

If I were either of them, would tank completely and try to get that defensive end from Ohio State. The guy's a beast.

Danny Dimes should be looking for bakery work...guy is a human turnover machine. What's that like, 30 in 8 games?

It's odd, but I don't mind turnovers so much from a young or rookie QB that's out there trying to win. Like, better that than the Mariota or Sam Bradford type, who won't throw a pick but will check down for five yards on a third-and-10. If the team sucks, you need your quarterback to try and do more. I'm not sure yet though if Jones is in the "good aggressive" category, like the Mannings, or the "bad aggressive" category, like Winston.
