Took in the soccer game on Friday evening. Pretty evenly matched. Saw a lot of ram basketball players in attendance. Saw Berry, although I think it was him, he looked half the size. Also saw Hass and Eric Y walk out together. Spoke with one of the Marketing people at half time. Asked him how season tickets were for the football team. He said this was the largest number of season tickets sold since 2008. Could be a misleading stat but what the heck, maybe the large freshman class will surprise us. Go Rhody!

In the conference preseason poll URI was picked to finish 12th ahead of only Davidson and St. Bonaventure. On points they were picked to finish closer to Davidson then 11th place Richmond. topdrawsoccer.com picked us to finish last.

And after the first weekend of play senior goalkeeper Katie Nickles was named A10 Player of the week after a 1-1 game against UMass Lowell and a 0-0 game at Northeastern. She made 13 saves over the two games, currently has a scoreless streak of 214:50, and posted her 8th career shutout.

Interesting note from last night. URI was down to Creighton 1-0 about 20 minutes in when there was a power outage on campus that wasn't fixed until about 2 this morning. The plan was originally to restart the game today, but the teams couldn't agree on a time to restart, so the game was canceled.

Couldn't agree when to resume the game?

Well the game would have been restarted. My guess is URI wanted it after classes and Creighton wanted it earlier so they could get ready for their next game.

I thought the same thing. Sad that the two teams could not agree. I can't imagine any girl on either team not being disappointed.

Today was the final day of the regular season. We're tied with Richmond and VCU for the final spot in the conference championship that takes place in Kingston. Not sure which of the final 3 gets the one open spot.

URI is the 8 seed and will take on St. Joe's Thursday at 5. They beat us 3-2 earlier this year.
