11/$280M for Bogaerts is going to be an albatross in a couple years so I don't blame the Sox for passing on that. That said, Chaim completely botched the entire negotiations for even allowing it to get to this point.

If Chaim allows Devers to hit the open market next offseason, he's gone.

At this rate, hopefully Chaim is gone next offseason too.

I like Xander a lot. Should have locked him up long ago. Good player seems like a great guy too.

Don’t quite understand when he became Ted Williams to most fans tho.

Probably when Betts left for similar reason. The Sox are acting like they're the Pirates, as opposed to the #3 team by revenue in the league.

Chaim asleep at the switch once again. Chris Bassitt comes off the board for a reasonable 3/$63M and goes in division to Toronto. On top of that, 24 year old All Star Catcher William Contreras goes to Milwaukee in a three team deal in which Milwaukee gave up one player. Not like the Sox have glaring holes at catcher or starter.

Devers price going up every day.

My only hope is that if the downward trend continues it leads to the return of… Theo Epstein.

Didn't get to see all of it yesterday, but they did put up 9...still optimistic. Although, as my brother put it so well a few days ago, "Oh good, just got a sneak preview of the Sox lineup and it looks like they're going to be able to bat Devers well before anyone gets on base and gets in his way." Having your highest average hitters 1 & 2, sure...used to that, but this old guy is used to the guys with the most pop at 3-6.

Oh well....I didn't get to see a lot of game, but, it actually still went for quite a long run. Question for anyone that watched, did it seem like as long/boring as it mighta could have last year? I've just noticed situations, especially after a hit, where you used to could have gone to the kitchen for a brew exchange (grab one, leave one) before the next pitch, and now they're pitching it right up there...

The talent on the roster has been getting worse the longer and longer he's been here. He's like a second rate Dan Douquette, only interested in guys that are hurt, past their prime, or hoping for an undiscovered diamond in the rough. Also, his handling of the trade deadline last year was a fireable offense all on its own

Tampa Bay has outscored opponents 101-30 to go 13-0 on the season to date
5-8 so far for Sox looks worse considering TB is 13-0 off to a blistering start.

Sale slotted to pitch Patriots Day Monday 11am to close out 4 game series with Angels.

They already are. This was Wednesday of last week. And the season just started!
Imagine if they continue to languish in last place?

According to The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham, the announced crowd of 24,477 on hand for the weekday matinee game marked the lowest attendance number at Fenway Park since the 2000 season. (That obviously excluded the 2020 season with no fans and the 2021 season with capacity limits.)

I would imagine the hot seat for Bloom is scalding at this point. 2 Last places finishes in 3 years and 2023 is definitely not trending the right way. John Henry had a short leash for Cherington and Dombrowski so I figure that if things don't improve that Bloom will be gone by the end of the season.

As an aside, I really like what Cherington is building in Pittsburgh. They are still coming along but he has done a nice job developing talent, same as he did in his time with the Sox. Pittsburgh is perfect spot for him because he has no money to work with so he can't pull a Pablo/Hanley part 2. Of course, Bob Nutting is one of the top 3 worst owners in Baseball so I'm sure he will find a way to screw up what Cherington is putting together.

Likely a pipe dream, but I would love to see Theo come back to the Red Sox.

I was looking at ticket prices for accessible seats at Fenway and they’re so ridiculously priced.

Maybe secondary market will offer some. The problem is I can never find accessible seats on stub hub or similar sites. So I never get the benefit of lower than face prices.

Definitely agree. Didn’t feel like Cherington signings. I think he would have liked to continue the draft/development track but patience only lasts so long in Boston.

Roster is flawed, but in contention to make the tourney just after the quarter pole...

Kluber is a mess, has he lost it? (Had he lost it before he got here?) ....
Why you can't ever say you have too much pitching. Thankfully, just a one year deal.
A week ago, they supposedly had 6 starters....now two of them suck. And suck bad.
I wouldn't want to pitch either one of those guys at all now....What're ya gonna do?
