Whitlock looked bad. Not enough zip on his pitches. They were teeing off on him. Also Cora left him in too long.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑9 months ago Why do they kid glove Whitlock so much? He's not that good... The yank-me's look like they might have been right....

He clearly didn't have it. Anytime guys get shellacked like that I also wonder about tipping pitches. If that was part of it, easy fix, but his velo was definitely down.

Really bad series loss to the Nats
Yanks on the road then 10 v Hou and LAD
I’m not optimistic for a playoff berth

Sox beat Yankees Friday night easily
Urías hits grand slam in 2nd inning today to put Sox up 4-0
Sox with the opportunity to really distance the Yankees - Boo Hoo
3 teams get Wild Card

NYY are not good. Sawx kinda own Cole. Team needs to be completely blown up.

Re: Red Sox and other Major League Baseball
Wong homers with 1 on so now 6-0 Sox through 4 innings. Yanks without a hit vs Crawford so far
Wong and Urias each with a homer and have the team's 6 RBIs - the 8th and 9th hitters in the order. 1B Casas out with a tooth issue today.

I have tickets for Sox at Houston on Wednesday, so I hope I'm not there for a sweep.

Re: Red Sox and other Major League Baseball
Postscript - it was not a sweep, and obviously, great game to be in person for, even if the Sox did try their best to muff it at the end, ha. The only game I personally attended that was better was this one, 18 innings with a Shea Hillenbrand dinger to win. As far as I can tell, this is the only video highlights of it available still.SGreenwell wrote: ↑8 months ago I have tickets for Sox at Houston on Wednesday, so I hope I'm not there for a sweep.

17-1 Sox win at Houston to tie the Series 2-2. Not bad splitting at Houston.

Re: Red Sox and other Major League Baseball
6.5 out of the last wild card spot with September 1st on Friday. This team is done.
No playoffs in 3 out of 4 years with Chaim in charge. Chaim should be so thankful that the Yankees had their worst season in the last 30 years, otherwise the Bloom would be responsible for 3 last places finishes in 4 years.
The worst part is Bloom’s lack of urgency at the deadline indicates he has job security for at least one more merciful year.
Can’t wait for another offseason of accumulating castoffs, journeymen and washed up arms.

Time for some more elite guys from the far East on this team.
Let’s go, shut down the regulars and see which prospect/ utility guys we wanna keep. Rafaela looks like a stud.

Re: Red Sox and other Major League Baseball
Ok, now that we suffered thru the "GM builds up the farm system" phase, it's time to move on to the "GM that trades away the farm system to win it all" phase of the cycle. Good deal.

Re: Red Sox and other Major League Baseball
It would be great if we could get an Epstein style GM that can make moves from the farm system to bring in needed talent while keeping the farm system strong. With the Red Sox' resources that should be possible. This all farm or all major league approach we seem to be going through since Theo left doesn't really make sense

John Henry is kind of acquiring quite the body count for someone seen as a relatively decent owner.RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑8 months ago It would be great if we could get an Epstein style GM that can make moves from the farm system to bring in needed talent while keeping the farm system strong. Re: Red Sox and other Major League Baseball
IMO Bloom did exactly what the owner hired him to do. Cut costs and rebuild the talent pipeline. Mission accomplished. 20000 empty seats vs the MFY x2 demonstrates that the consumer had finally caught on to the trickery. Bloom was not the guy to bring the club back to excellence even tho the fix should be quick and easy.
Off season will be entertaining.

Re: Red Sox and other Major League Baseball
The future looks pretty bright if we can get the right GM hire , the farm system looks improved, we just have to hope the owners will let the new GM spend in free agency and acquire the right guys

Re: Red Sox and other Major League Baseball
Agree. But since we're at the bottom of the suck phase...time to ride that 'all major league' horse thru to the next phase. And worry about evening it out later...RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑8 months ago It would be great if we could get an Epstein style GM that can make moves from the farm system to bring in needed talent while keeping the farm system strong. Rest In Peace Tim Wakefield, always a blast to watch and listen to on NESN. Great ball player. Ironically, he would have passed without anyone knowing he was even sick if not for Schilling. May have given some a chance to wish Tim well before his passing.

Yeah, sounds like he only got symptoms like issues with vision in the last month or so. Also sounds like he had brain surgery in the middle of the month.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑7 months ago I saw that. So sad. In happier Wakefield news, George Kirby from the Mariners threw a knuckleball in yesterday's game to honor Wakefield, and it was nasty!

Tyler hit 34 bombs in 21 then was injured a lot the last 2 seasons , he won 2 gold gloves which should help our defense which we sorely need
Let’s get 2 decent starting pitchers now !
