It is kinda funny that the team that has won the most in this century is being completely ignored by the prognosticators

Epic beat down of best team in majors last night whilst rolling out an opener.

Hmmmm

Sleeping dog?

Wahoolio! Another dub! Best record in baseball for July 8-)

Edgy moments...PR Arroyo for Casas and then watch him get CS on the first pitch. Challenge. Fail.
Next inning, I don't think the dude was hbp, but...no challenges...

Wong is like a cat back there...can't believe he threw that guy out and the runner on third didn't score...

Chaim...get a couple SP's

Yes, that throw by Wong with 1st and 3rd 1-out in the 9th was amazing. Quick, gutsy release and right on target. Very nice tag and held onto the ball beautifully.

2 straight wins against the best team in baseball!!!! After winning 2 straight vs the Mets.

Perfect. Post it up on the locker room door. Cora loves the disrespect stuff. “16-1 suck on it “comes to mind :)

I'm a Red Sox Fan, lifelong, but not a Cora fan.
Don't like his pitching substitution strategy (far too many moves), doesn't leave starters in long enough especially when they are hot and too slow to bring promising young players along. So for me it's rooting for Sox in spite of Cora. After the Houston debacle he should have not been brought back imho - but nothing I can do about it. Just don't like the guy at all.

meh...can take him or leave him...he's a cheater, yes, but he was disciplined for his crime and did the time - just like The Rick (and we'd love to have him here). Can't penalize folks for their trespasses forever. ;)

If the Sox hadn't brought him back, someone would have (maybe the Raiders? ) I don't believe he's a 'negative', i.e., costing them games, he's probably upper echelon. They all make too many pitching changes these days -thank goodness for the 3 batter rule. Now, if we can only figure out a way to keep D Bush off the field, could probably clip another 15 minutes off game times.

Another trade deadline masterclass from Chaim. Doesn’t add to the team nor does he sell off Duvall or Paxton. Second straight year that Bloom has flopped at the deadline. Could have sold off Xander, JD, Eovaldi last year too.

This clown has gotta go. He has no plan.

Risky strategy...I know those guys are sposed to be good...but, have they been doing better with...or without them this year? They seem to have been making a run without them. Not saying they won't help...but they could have used real additions.

If you have to use an opener for half your games....chances of making the tourney are slim...

ETA: Furthermore...if your pickings are so slim that you need to use your opener the day before he's sposed to open...and your outfielder can't get to the game on time...and you lose a series to the team in front of you because of these things.... might be time to start thinking about hoops and football...

I applaud the dedicated fans watching this train wreck of a season. The Sox are in last place in August. 12.5 games back from first place. It's a lost season for sure.

Good article from Ken Rosenthal on Chaim and the Red Sox.

“The deadline is the time for executives to correct all that invariably goes wrong in the first four months. But in nearly four years on the job, Bloom, a deliberate, painstaking thinker, has yet to show he can seize the moment.”

Gift win last night....with two outs, the 'check swing' on Urias was about 3x as much swing as the one called a strike on Yoshida earlier in the game. First base ump is a Sox fan. Good deal.

If half your games are started by openers and regardless, you use 5 pitchers per game, you're most likely not going anywhere.
Gee, I wonder how other teams got around that?

Sox just took the series from Kansas City winning 3 of 4 games. Tonight host Detroit with Sale on the mound.
Very nice job once again by Paxton on the mound last night

Still within striking distance of a wild card.

They get a couple good starts together, then they throw out "openers" for three days....I hate that isht. They would have been far better off getting two mediocre starters at the deadline. Huge missed opportunity. Even that guy Lyles ...3-13 this year, career record 69-103...would have been an upgrade. Frustrating and sad at the same time. Fire Bloom.

I would love to be wrong about this but now Seattle is ahead of us and Toronto and Houston are unlikely to fall to far , we could win 88 or so games and still not qualify
