#3.

Also putting Wagner and URI in the same sentence as equals or URI as the lessor of the two immediately undermines any credibility.

These Rutgers posters are about what you would expect from a program like they have.

"I'm also sick and tired of people claiming this si the worst job in the country. It all comes down to who can I'm also sick and tired of people claiming this si the worst job in the country. It all comes down to who can recruit and then coach them up. Who ever thought Wagner or for that matter Rhode Island would be attractive places to coach. Living in the Boston I'm familiar with URI and it gets very little publicity , it's an unattractive campus with a mediocre academic rep , and a poor step sister to Providence..Yet Hurley took it and thrived. Yes URI had Lamar Odum but that's about it......"
That really jumped off the page when I read it. We have a very attractive campus, don't know how anyone could claim otherwise. A beautiful campus, in fact. Plus we're a short drive to some of the best beaches going, lol. Really, walk around our campus in May. A beautiful campus in beautiful South County. If setting has any import, which it likely doesn't compared to more important things, we've got most other campus settings beat hands down.

It's very odd that Zags keeps posting the same "Hurley to Rutgers not a foregone conclusion" article. Is DH just trying to squeeze RU for every last penny/year?

You really think that is the motivation? I think if anyone saw it the first time, it was probably the Rutgers people trying to negotiate with Hurley. I think he probably just wants to max out on clicks.

The first few times he posted it, there were small updates, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

That's the thing though. Absolutely nothing happened yesterday regarding Dan. The only news on the Rutgers search that came out yesterday was about other people they interviewed. Yet somehow the mood on here went from confident back to paranoid. Whoever said no news is good news didn't post on keaneyblue.com

TP, as far as I can tell, Dan hasn't interviewed in person with Hobbs and or Barachi.

If he were to do so, then concern that he'd leave would increase substantially.

But remember, we've seen where secrecy around URI can rival the NSA's best efforts to keep things quiet.....

There's a chance he leaves, but a small chance, and we should have some kind of an answer very soon.

Since I'm leaving for work, it will probably happen while I'm there, but I'll be checking ESPN's ticker when I can.

Very odd indeed. It almost makes me think that he's trying to get clicks. Like he's a professional sports writer that gets paid based on the number of hits he gets on his articles or something. Super strange IMO.

ECR, I posted a comment under that article. Said if he doesn't interview, he's not going anywhere.

Since "URI" follows my name, they can chew on that for a while!

If it's going to happen it's better to happen now than after next year. Give Preston a stacked team that he recruited and have a new coach make the NCAA's year one and go from there. He doesn't need to be a head coach someone else first. 20 years of solid d 1 experience. Hiring someone other than him changes the whole landscape. This happening now versus a year or two from now would be best for uri long term

You heard from someone that they are going to make him one of the 10 highest paid coaches in basketball? And someone told you about it, but not one person in the media can get a sniff of this information? Forgive me for being a little skeptical.

This was my point yesterday. There is tons of money flying around in college sports but not to the degree it flies around this board.

When comparing that 2.5 figure to other basketball coaches and even football coaches at prominent programs something just doesn't add up.

Wait.. I've actually heard that the only hang up is that they are waiting for Dan to have a sit down with Chris Christie. So after they get around that traffic jam it should be smooth sailing.

If anybody wants a good laugh go on the PC boards and read the thread about Cooley to Pitt rumors. Three short NCAA runs and apparently a fantasy forgets who they are. This is why CBS I believe it was wrote the article about coaches moving on after recent success, fan bases just become to removed from reality and forget who or what their program really is. PC has become a perfect example of this.

Did I miss Butler's Chris Holtmann on this list? I'd like to think Hurley is done fielding offers this year though the Final Four is deal time. I'm not sure Hurley has a strong enough track record for the Pitt faithful.

The best part of reading the PC board is hearing them talk about anything outside the Big East, which quickly shows that the majority of them know nothing about basketball that isn't played at the Dunk.
Severe's scoring went down because he lost his PG, Eric Paschall, you know the 6'7" 260 pound former point guard. A quick google search would reveal he has never played PG in his life but that's another story.
Also awesome to hear them fawn over their transfer from George Mason and a player from Fordham. At the same time talking about the Pitt job being a downgrade from Providence.
Ahhhh perspective, its a wonderful thing.

In high school, smoke signals are smoke signals, hormones are hormones.
In college, smoke signals must mean High Noon on The Quad.
