Men's Track wins the A-10s then wins the NE championships and our public relations dept. can't get any mention in the projo. Something is definitely wrong with the athletic dept. if they can't get the word out about a team like this. It's BS that nothing would get in if it was sent.
GoRhody does a great job but that doesn't help the pubic know of our team.
To make it even more embarrassing the women's track team placed second in both championships.
Great job Track, now must be the time to talk about football.
Rhody track wins New Englands and non one cares

RW-agrees-there needs to be a major write up in ProJo.
Press releases to all local papers.
Note where the Coach says tradition is important.
That is what he is selling (with no outdoor track).
Rumor is they want to do track with new FB stadium?

I do find it amusing that on the Rhode Island Rams Facebook page that the picture of DiCaprio in the RI hat gets 2,800 likes and the news of the winning the New England's got 120 likes.
The DiCaprio picture is probably the most liked post ever on that page although the Lamar Odom stuff got a lot of love too.
Draw your own conclusions about our fan base...

Great accomplishment, easily our winning-est sport at URI. Banners on top of banners at Mackal. Also worth noting is that our women's sailing team is #1 in the country.

Well, as a former co captain of both cross country and indoor track in 1965-1966, I'm damn proud of our guys! We won YC titles in cross country in 1964 and indoor track in 1965. Our era had three hall of famers, Clate Clater, John Gonsalves, and Charlie McGinnis and probably a couple more. Tom Russell and Art Sherman were great c oaches. Art was an NCAA Pole Vault Champion. High Jumper Fred Collingwood should be in the hall but you know Rhode Island politics. We should have disguised him as an athletic contributer!!
