Wilson will be back. Next year will be his last in Kingston, barring something crazy. Can enter the draft after his junior year.

Excellent season by the baseball team. Halfway through yesterday's game I thought it had a chance to become a magical season, but once we lost that game the writing was on the wall. Nothing to be ashamed of today, and doesn't change what a great season this was. South Carolina is a blue blood in college baseball, and beating them once on their field in the NCAA tournament is something to be proud of, as is winning the A10 regular season and tournament championships.

Absolutely,
Well said.
Hang on against UNCWILM and duke beats South Carolina and we had a chance.
Was fun keeping up with their success this year.
Bravo baseball Rams!

A10 Coaches predicted URI to finish 3rd preseason.
We took 1st in Regular Season and the A10 Tournament
We pulled the upset of the NCAA Regionals beating 1-seed USC on their home field
We are a young team
Amazing Season!!! Congrats to all!

Some other interesting items from this year's NCAA Regional Tournaments:
Vanderbilt
- so sad to have a Freshman pitcher drown just before their first game
- As a strong 1-seed they lose 15-1 to 4-seed Xavier then lose their next game 9-8 to 3-seed Washington

East Carolina wins Regional
- 3-seed ECU defeats 2-seed Bryant, defeats 1-seed Virginia, defeats 3-seed William & Mary

Boston college wins regional
- 3-seed Boston College defeats 2-seed Tulane, defeats 4-seed Utah which upset 1-seed Mississippi and then beats Tulane again to win the regional

The college baseball postseason is such a grind and it's easy to see why most top teams are where they are.
It's all about depth and specifically having a pitching staff that can comfortably go 2-3 deep with some hard-throwers in the pen.
Just winning one game to advance to the winner's bracket is a huge accomplishment.
With Wilson as a legit #1, URI probably only needs one of the other guys in the rotation to develop into a stronger starter and get a little more pop in the pen and with their young roster, might be able to talk super for next season.

An absolutely tremendous season for the team. Hopefully the sting of the last two games doesn't last too long for them because they deserve to feel proud and happy about what they accomplished. And hopefully it leads to more people heading down to Beck Field to check them out next season.

Spot on, RJ. Another thing I've noticed from watching a fair share of games this weekend is that the elite teams have very strong, deep bullpens. URI has one great pitcher and probably four or five other very good pitchers - two of which are starters. After that, the bullpen kind of tails off. Teams like SC and others have five or six very strong arms in the pen to go along with top-tier starters.

Agree, I think the reality is that most teams maybe have 2 guys who can give 6-7 innings on most nights, and a 3-5 you pray for.
The postseason is a grind, regular season you rarely need a 4th starter. Get to the double elimination games you probably have to play 4-5 games to advance.
Especially those 3 and 4 starters, you basically have to hope they can give you 4 or 5 pretty clean innings. That's when you really need those bullpen arms.

Hey guys,
Check out our latest episode where we wrap up the postseason for Rhody and Bryant Baseball. Also, at about 41:50 there is an interview with the guy who runs the New England College Baseball Blog. It has some good conversation about URI baseball in there. Check it out!

Warwick Native and Hendricken grad Mike King, a junior, was the BC starting pitcher and got the win yesterday as Boston College upset overall #3 seed Miami to deadlock the best of 3 series 1-1. King was a RI Gatorade State player of the year.

Amazingly it is now over.
Arizona loses to Coastal Carolina 4-3 in the 3rd game of the championship series.
Arizona was not in the preseason Top 25.
Coastal Carolina was ranked #24 in the preseason Top 25.
Great to see the evenness of competition in NCAA baseball
