We will be a #4 seed in the regionals most likely but capable of beating anyone the way we are playing right now!

Martin Figueroa, Chris Hess, Ryan Olmo and Ben Wessell made the All Championship team. Wessell was brilliant today. Pretty good when your #3 pitcher in the rotation makes the All Championship team!
Great day for RHODY baseball.
And we have a young team too!

How does double elimination work for the regionals?

Win or lose game 1 vs SC, is game 2 vs SC again or is there a losers bracket?

Losers bracket.
Winner of URI - USC will play winner of Duke - UNCW
Loser of URI - USC will play loser of Duke - UNCW
Traditional double elim for 4 teams until only 1 remains

Winner will go on to play the winner of the 4 team regional being played at Clemson where the Tigers are the 1-seed.

Will be interesting to see how Wilson does against them. Should be a nice measuring stick for him as a sophomore to take on a team like that at their place on a big stage. I see he struggled a little early in the season against some of the non-conference big boys. Did pitch real well at Maryland though, who were a mid-pack Big 10 team.

Hopefully our great play of late translates well against a team like South Carolina.
It would put us on the map of we can knock off the Gamecocks

It was great to watch a selection show in anticipation of seeing the name "Rhode Island" pop up on the screen.

All teams in the Northeast have a tough road to hoe.....a great pitcher means a lot.....let's pull for our guys to get great pitching and timely hitting.

College Baseball/Softball has the strangest postseason tournament, but they make for a lot of fun.
Regionals to Super Regionals.
Double Elimination setup first weekend, best of 3 2nd weekend.
College World Series.
Double Elim until finals, then best of 3.
It makes for a crazy month of baseball.

Great write up and Tyler is definitely our "ace in the hole," so to speak. But left unsaid is that our bats have also come alive lately. The A10 isn't the best baseball conference in the country, but rolling through the tournament with a 38-7 (or whatever) dominance is not just about pitching. Obviously the caliber of pitchers that we face is about to go up several degrees, but it's hard to imagine us going into this in a better situation. Obviously it's a major uphill climb and we're fighting above our weight a bit, but I feel like we have a punchers chance.

this is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!
bases loaded single that clears the bases for URI and it is a big argument as to whether the guy catches it or not
Umps rule in favor of URI believe it or not and URI is now up 6-4!!!
and Wilson is on a roll with 5 straight strike outs

Weird, now the umps say it was a not a catch but the URI player did not circle the bases and left the field so was called out - just nutty
So score is 5-4 URI

Agree. Was interesting how the announcers predicted it perfectly as well.
Wilson needs to get this third out in the 7th. Too bad he lost to a walk Hopkins after having him 0-2.

Great pitching again by Wilson! 11 strike outs through 7 innings against a top 10 ranked team.
Does he pitch the 8th? Too many pitches throw?
Would be nice to see us add to the Lead here in the 8th.
