This is only the initial list. There will be more as the day goes on and I know of at least 3 more RI Players that will be announced.

yup this is just the list as the LOI's come in. I just like that it is mostly out of state kids. No offense to RI but our HS football is not that good.

Surfri,
I really like Trevor Lawton. Played very good basketball for West Warwick before transferring to Hendricken where he also is on the Basketball team. Good 6'3' size. Will be an excellent Tight End and/or Wide Receiver.

This year's RI Gatorade Player of the Year Nick Andreozzi from EG signed with Rhody too. He'll be going in as a DB not a QB I hear.

It looks like we went BIG on the offensive and defensive lines. Lets hope they can play.

I knew, just didn't want to jump the gun. One of the surprises I referred to earlier. Great athlete. Great having him at URI.

Ramster, great family too!
Hal, from what I heard, Nick and the Hendricken kids all receiving some monies, not sure how much. My guess is URI is likely sticking with the 1/4 and 1/2 scholarships for those local kids. Hopefully one or two of them can be the next Lance Small, Matty Hansen or Dougie Johnson. Nice when a local kid can contribute like those kids did when they were here. I know others did too, those were just a few that came to mind.

The Sacramento running back with over 4000 yards in 2 seasons. Looks amazing.

There has to be some sort of story behind the recruitment of the kid from Sacramento. Anyone know what it is?

Our tight end from ohio is also a D-1 basketball prospect. Maybe he will walk on next year. Another guard with size.
Every year since he took over, you guys have talked about the great recruiting classes Fleming has supposedly brought in, how he's made a dramatic upgrade to our talent level. Yet the results on the field haven't gotten better, and based solely on won-loss record things have gotten worse since Joe Trainor's last year. Are these recruits actually better then who we were bringing in before, or does this staff do a better job of hyping the guys coming in? What specifically about this class is going to change things? And if they are truly better then what we were recruiting before, does that mean Fleming can't coach the talent he's bringing in?

We landed the number 2 recruiting class in the CAA according to 247. And the we also got WR transfer from Temple.
Bos8,
What does the number below the "2" in the ranking mean? For URI it shows a "6" below the "2". Is that an indication of URI's ranking for the 2015 Class in 247?

The 6 is last year's ranking so we went up 4 spots. 247 compares class rank from previous years to show progress of schools.

That was my guess, thanks for clarifying. So this is excellent news.

We'll see how good a coach Fleming is, with more talent.
ATP is right. This had better work.

I think the program is headed in the right direction. It has to improve its facilities. But it just takes alot longer for a football program to get turned around compared to other sports. It may take 4 to 6 seasons to see real results. Due to injuries and recruiting classes. The players buy in to what Fleming is doing last season there was way to much in the air in regards to a qb.

It just takes time in football. The transition from HS to college is much more dramatic than in basketball, because of how important physicality is. Even if this class is great, you might not know it next year. Hopefully the guys brought in previously will start to reach their potential this year, and give us something to build on when this group comes into their own.

Can we keep this thread to the 2016 recruiting class as it was meant to be?

Sorry, I'm confused. Yours is the only post in the thread that doesn't seem to be about this class?

This "sounds" like a great recruiting class, probably Flemings best yet. I'm looking forward to a winning streak boys. Can't wait for Harvard.

Wrong. Already talking about things not related to the class. Like this better produce or else crap. Next thing the thread will start talking about hockey. Just keep it to the players themselves and the class itself. I'm proud of these kids selecting my school. Do not need the negativism creeping in.

So talk about the players but not the potential impact they'll have on the program?
