Hopefully he's aware of the rigorous burrito eating training underground program going on now. That could be the edge we need.

The burrito edge is clearly out there in recruiting circles. Would I be considered a booster if I started shipping burritos back from San Diego? Would put us on a whole different level.

Speaking of Paco's Tacos and burritos, I'm still pretty upset that Paco's Tacos would not feed me at 11PM on a Friday night in freaking Brooklyn. Brooklyn! 11PM in New York City is like 4:30 in the afternoon everywhere else. At least nobody in Brooklyn will have the Burrito edge on us.

Yes, he's a big kid, but seems to be reasonable shape. He's certainly not fat ....

Just talking to him, he really likes SMU, he really likes Oklahoma and he really likes Rhode Island. Those are schools that he gets hit up hard by a lot.”
It’s a stretch to call those his top three schools, but those are the three with the highest mutual interest. Johnson said he’s looking closest at SMU, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Wichita State, Texas Tech and Providence. SMU, Oklahoma, Rhode Island are on the list for official visits, and Johnson has reached out to each to set up dates.

He and Berry are about the same size. We'd definitely have some beef up front for the next couple of years.

Will visit weekend of October 2-3. Southern Methodist plays home to East Carolina Pirates that weekend. Says he could commit on a visit on the spot if he feels right about the school.

That could be good news that we get first crack with him saying that if he likes a school he won't have a problem committing on the spot if he gets the right vibe.

He did not commit after his visit to SMU. Good that we have Thompson on our team also from Louisiana.

2016 Northwood Lena (LA) center Mike Layssard has committed to Rhode Island, per a source.
ARD paying dividends! Great get for Rhody!

I think this counts as Christion Thompson's first official assist as a Ram.

Just proves the importance of getting prospects to visit here.
Dan and staff have a pretty good success ratio when this happens.
It's also why there;s irritation when a player commits elsewhere
without visiting URI at all.

Welcome to the family, Mike!

Agreed. Layssard had a good relationship built up with ARD and knows Christion a little bit, but read his above comments about SMU. He was sold... until he got to Kingston. The team itself is tight, which is not always an easy thing to accomplish, especially with the turnover they've had. The staff really puts together a nice presentation for how they plan to develop a player, and they have plenty of success stories on the roster where those plans have come to fruition. The preseason expectations don't hurt, either.

From everything that I've read, it looks like he lost over a 100lbs in the last year. Hopefully with our conditioning program, we can keep him at a reasonable weight. This appears to be a coup, for Dan and our program. Congrats to all.

Great job by the staff to pluck a player that seemed destined for another school. He said he would have no problem committing right away if it felt right and we capitalized on the first crack. I'd love to know the success rate when they get a player on campus, it's through the roof! Coffee for everyone!
