Thanks for the link, ramster.

This is a nice honor in a really competitive league-

I'm such a sucker for stuff like this. Nice gesture from Cyril-

Good handle, good BB instincts [IQ] and can shoot it.

That's a recipe for some serious PT.

Will be a crowded backcourt for the next 2 years, for sure.

Is anyone watching? That play where he just got fouled was sweet.

They're going to close this out. Congrats to Jeff and St. John's!

ETA: He gets points for style, too. Pulled off his jersey and had a URI shirt on under it.

Thanks Ramster. Good HS basketball. I like what I see in Dowtin.

Nice win. St John's was up only 25-24 at the half and anyone's game. Gradually pulled away in the 2nd half to win by 14 points 71-57
Jeff Dowtin - 13 points
3-4 on 2 point FG
1-2 on 3 point FG
4-5 on FTs
plus some good assists, good rebounds and some excellent defense.
Plays with calmness yet with intensity when needed, high basketball IQ, tends to quietly contribute to a winning result and a championship, winning player from a winning program
2 more tournaments remain
- Alhambra Tournament
- DC State Championship
Nice to see a court storming :D :D
Interesting to see Cowan and Dowtin going to rivals Maryland and URI - Hurley vs Turgeon

Yes Ace,
It was a strong finish and scoring of the basket that made that play so impressive - and to get fouled making it!!
I like that Cyril is communicating so positively with Jeff and obviously knows what a huge game tonight is. Nice to see incoming recruits bonding already.

I missed the URI Jersey underneath - good catch

There is no doubt we will have the best AND deepest backcourt in the league next year. I cannot wait!

To me the recruiting has/is heading in the direction of Xavier. Tall guards that can compete in each area. Then athletic front court.

As oppose to say Joes recruits scorers. GW recruits non-Americans. Davidson recruits shooters. Richmond recruits crafty offensive players.
VCU recruited length/speed.

Not that all teams have a theme to point to. But I think the players coming and here resemble more of a Xavier roster.

As much of a letdown as this season has been for the current team, seeing incoming guys Jeff and Cyril maintain their enthusiasm for the program is very encouraging. Congrats to Jeff on the championship, hopefully he will get a few more over the next four years!

Is Dowtin to Cowan as Harmon was to Wright/Williams? Will Dowtin see much time until his Jr year? Just don't tell me that he also is a star cornerback with an offer from NE.

I think Dowtin should get at least some Marquis Jones kinda freshman minutes next year. I would guess he will be the second best PG on the team next year so, when Jarvis needs a rest, we will put Jeff in.
Unless he'd rather have EC, Christion, or JT run the point while Jarvis rests.

Just as likely that it could be Dowtin:Cowan as EC Matthews:Wes Clark. 2nd fiddle in HS, better player in college.

Didn't I see recently that Clark is academically ineligible?

That seems to depend on who you ask. Missouri said he's out for academics. Clark said he quit. Maybe he quit before they could ask him to leave?

St John's was upset by John Carroll HS and Mike Tertsea last night in the Alhambra tournament. John Carroll now plays DeMatha tonight for the Championship.
Jeff Dowtin had 12 points for St John's.

Rambone,
That is awesome to hear.
He is going to be a great addition. Runs the floor well, passes great, shoots the ball above average but I agree on the basketball instincts and IG - he is very smooth, plays and acts on the floor like he is several plays ahead in a chess game.

He seems to change speeds pretty effectively, a few really nice drives to the basket in here. Sometimes his jumpshot has no jump.

I like that he has a nice pull up jumper from about 10 feet. You don't see enough of that these days. It seems guards these days like to either shoot the 3 or go all the way to the basket. Dowtin seems to do all three well.

Jeff is scheduled to play in the Capital Classic game tomorrow night as part of the Capital All-Stars. There are some really good prospects involved in this one: Anthony Cowan, Alani Moore, Corey Manigault, Rawle Alkins, Jagan Mosely, Shamorie Ponds, De'Andre Hunter, TJ Gibbs, Lamar Stevens.
