Best Pre-Game Location?

Giro's is closed. The new Rathskellar has good food, good bar scene. Not cheap like the old place, though. ANd not exactly around the corner.

Giro's looks sad when I drive past it. I can say KeaneyBlue did our best to give it business, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Shame on you is right! They had the best chicken parm there.

I'm just not sure how a seafood restaurant will do on Main Street at the old Italian Village location when there are more than a dozen seafood restaurants in the area RIGHT ON THE WATER.

That place was one block from where I lived for many years. Went there quite often. Good food, simple but that's OK.

TS is right. Doubt it will succeed as a seafood restaurant.

Iggy, I didn't think Giro's would survive after the reopening.

Too upscale for that part of town.

That was a "townie" place, if there ever was one. Some real characters hung out there.

Ah, the old Peace Dale Flats. Other than going to Giro's, never went there often, except for a late night or Sunday trip to the back door of the packie down the street.

Lots of fun, those days.

Patsy's, I believe. Giro's was good food at cheap prices in the 70s. Same with Italian Village. I remember some Friday nights of Italian Village and Campus Cinema. Mama Rosa's was another decent spot and Iggy's.

I love Trio. Great service and great food. Really great ambiance as well.

I "like" Spain, but don't go out of my way to go there even though I live 10 minutes away. I do love their patio in the summer. They also do not open until 4PM, so are most likely always a post-game spot.

westerly/Pawcatuket/Mystic has some great bars and restaurants also. depending on where coming from.
The only "nearby" area I do not like is NK. Odd it is the biggest town in s.county.

Trio is excellent. Everything on Wednesdays is discounted, I believe.
And while it's a little upscale, everyone around me the last time I was there were eating burgers, and they looked great.

Yes, I think they still do that on Wednesdays on the off season.

I love the Fun Guy pizza at Trio. It's 1/2 off apps on Sundays.

Last I knew, yes - I think I took advantage about two or three months ago. I also hit up Crazy Burger frequently in the non-summer months.

I really like PJ's Pub on Boon Street in Narragansett. Much better food than Crazy Burger. This is NOT to be confused with the two other PJ's in RI (completely different ambiance and owners).

The owner's son is a HUGE Rhody fan/season ticket holder. When I go in there we always talk hoops. Great pizza/calzones and Greek food there.

I'm with GoRhody - I think Crazy Burger has way, way better food. PJ's is fine, but it's definitely more the standard pub fare, as you'd imagine from the name. However, I am slightly biased in that PJ's is the spot for Narragansett pols to hang out, so, I kind of try to avoid it so as not to seem like I'm hounding those folks on their time off.

I will say though, on-topic, that Crazy Burger is pretty much the last place you'd want to go to before a game. They get busy on weekends, it's BYOB, and I don't think they have a single TV in the place.

You know where no one goes anymore? Turtle Soup. It's only good for drinks in the summer on the front grass. Food is awful and they have a problem with flies in their bar/dining room area.

We used to go to Turtle Soup all the time. Great food when it opened. Great atmosphere. Then the food quantity and quality went south fast. Restaurants are the one business where you can't squeeze the dime on the product. If you try, you might as well hang a For Sale sign the moment you intend to do so.

Two ten was fun, pregamed once before a PC game. They had Rhody banners and TVs. Nice bar overlooking the bay. About 15 min from the RC.
