Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show @ Charlie O's Monday @ 7pm
What's to be baffled about? He's saying they need to do better. It's the coach taking accountability and saying they need to improve. Isn't that what we from our coaching staff, to recognize areas they need to improve and then do it.

Tells me that maybe they don't know how to work with big men.

I don't get it. If you want to see more Watson, shouldn't you be happy to hear him say "we need to play Watson more"?

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show @ Charlie O's Monday @ 7pm
"Says it's on the coaches to find a way to get Watson around 15 minutes "
So WTF does that even mean?
Does it mean they need to coach him up, so he can get minutes?
Where are you getting that Hurley is saying the need to play him more,
when he's dumping it back on his coaches?
If he wants him to play more, he's the head coach. Fucking play him.
15 minutes? BFD!

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show @ Charlie O's Monday @ 7pm
I took his comments to be an acknowledgement that they (which includes Dan) haven't done a good enough job finding minutes for him, and implied in that statement is the idea that they will consciously do a better job of it going forward. Maybe I am misinterpreting it.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show @ Charlie O's Monday @ 7pm
I think its just kind of how you interpret it I guess. I take it as him saying "we're going to start playing Earl more"
EDIT: So me and TP posted the same thing at the same time basically. But yeah, I don't think he is speaking about the past, and saying like "gee why didnt anybody figure out how to play him more the last few games." I think he is saying, "we are going to find a way to get him 15 minutes. And figure out how that will affect the rest of the rotation."

So just say,"I expect him to play more", instead of
"it's up to the coaches to find a way......"
What way is there to find? You put him on the floor. It's that big
shiny wooden thing in front of the bench.

Or it's also how the coaches need to help Earl execute on both ends of the floor better and improve his understanding so that he CAN stay out there for extended runs of 15+ minutes.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show @ Dan's Place, Monday @ 7pm
I'm not getting into it further after this, because I feel like I've already been pretty clear with what I said in previous posts. I'm not a stenographer, I just gave quick blurbs on topics I thought were relevant. People on the board have talked a lot lately about Watson so I gave what I thought was relevant information. Coach feels like Watson's basketball IQ has improved and feels like the coaching staff needs to get him up to around 15 minutes a game. Right now he's at 9.7 on the season. Coach also explained the situations why Watson hasn't been getting those minutes recently as part of the conversation on how the coaches need to fix it. This is the coaches talking about what they need to do better going forward in allocating minutes, not the coach saying what Watson needs to do better. If there is any further lack of clarity, you can listen online to the replay and use the time of my posts to give you a ballpark idea of when the relevant conversation took place.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show @ Dan's Place, Monday @ 7pm
I wanted to make this a separate post because I didn't want any confusion on what was said and what was my opinion. I know it doesn't seem like 5 minutes is much, but right now Watson plays a fraction of a minute less than Reichelle. If Watson does get up to 15 he's clearly above JR on the depth chart and he's starting to breathe down Biruta's neck. If Watson makes the most of his increased time and Biruta doesn't improve we could see a drastically different minute allocation by the end of the conference schedule.

I hope so, Earl/Hassan can rebound the ball and blow games open.
That's how it happens, getting the ball and getting into the fast break and then on offense second chance points.
After all that you knock down a couple free throws and you get the win.

I'm with you, rambone. I'm feeling a bit uneasy when I hear the word "historic" about a snowstorm, especially being in RI. I was at Rhody when we got the real historic one. I loved it. If it's anything like that, I'll hate it. Funny how the way you look at things changes over the years.

Looks to me like most of southern NE is going to be shut down starting tomorrow afternoon thru Tuesday, and depending on how bad the storm is, even Wednesday.
Looks like my forced vacation might be extended. Don't mind that, but got to still make a living.
At least I don't have to shovel 50 ft. of driveway like I used to.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show - Thirsty Beaver, Cranston Monda
Looks like another coach's show will bite the dust, due to another storm.
I doubt they can reschedule this one, with 2 more games this week.
Hopefully the team will make it home tonight before it starts snowing or sleeting or whatever.
If not, do they fly to Philly and wait? Or stay in Richmond, and fly to Philly Tuesday?

They mentioned on the television broadcast that they were flying to New York and bussing it home from there. At least that's what I thought I heard

Well, in Groton at least, this storm was a total dud.
Mostly a layer of ice, and less than an inch of snow.
How is it in RI? Maybe the show will go on?

Depends on where you are. I'm in the southern part of the state and we have 4 or 5 inches. The northern part has more. Boston has about 2 feet. I just heard that Boston has over 6 feet of snow in the past 17 days. So, my guess is that Cranston has 7 or 8?rambone 78 wrote:Well, in Groton at least, this storm was a total dud.

Westerly is like Groton. Some ice and an inch or so.

Yup. Another storm coming Thursday on top of all this.
Must be global warming.
I'm getting a great workout shoveling this stuff seemingly
on a daily basis.
The worst is at the end of my driveway, where it's like
shoveling rocks, where the plows piled it.
I'm sending Arthur out to find that stinking ground hog.

The only good thing for me is, where I live I only have to clean off my car.
The previous place, I had to shovel every inch of the driveway, while the rest of the family watched.
They thought they were being helpful when they asked, "Is your life insurance paid up?"
Of course, they are the ex-family now. Wonder why?

Third Monday in a row I've worked from home. I am done with the hibernation!
I was glad I got to go to the show last Weds at Mews. Hopefully the rest of the shows won't be postponed either. I can only imagine if we have a high around 50, or a decent rainstorm. The melting of this s*ht snow is going to be unreal.

After that, the temps are supposed to finally start creeping up, to near normal.
That will seem like a heat wave.

Thankfully, it seems like South County was spared from the worst of another storm - Most of the major roads are down to pavement and OK enough to drive on, although all of the sidewalks have been a mess and impassable for a while now. School was cancelled Monday - fourth day overall for 2014-15 - but I think SK and Gansett will be back Tuesday.
