Rhody Madness has not been held on the first official day of practice since they moved that date earlier in the year. Look for an event around the same time as it was held last season. There WILL be one.

Was it still called Midnight Madness last year or has the name changed? When I was at URI, SAA ran Midnight Madness, and they have an event Thursday 10/23 from 7-9 in Keaney Gym they're calling Rhody Rally. I'm not sure if that's a new name for Midnight Madness or if they've been cut out of running it and this is an event for the Homecoming game.

But then again, how many of the Ramettes do you think are math majors?

Am 99% certain the Rhody Rally is the homecoming event. They usually have a bonfire after and lately a local band. The madness event still goes on separately, usually earlier than homecoming.

An intern started at the company I work for, and just met him yesterday. Turns out he is a senior this year. I asked him if he ever goes to any of the games, and he said "sometimes". Much better answer than "never". He then asked me if there was "a really good guy named E.W. on the team"

So that's an enormous upgrade from last year. Whether you like ace hoods music or not, that's a fantastic marketing idea. And at the Ryan center? Recruits are going to love that. Well done

Agree with Rhodymob. PC has Big Sean. Neither are A-list artists, but much better than nothing in terms of exciting students and creating an atmosphere. I would suggest the "purists" stay home for this one and see the big picture. :)

Rod, you will love this video. Also, check out his ADIDAS pumps
If my link does not work, Google "I woke up in a Bugatti" Maybe we can get a Rhody cap in his next video.

Um, I think waking up might all he'd be able to do in a Bugatti.
They cost 1.25 million, and look like a giant vacuum cleaner.
I'll pass on the video, though. Thanks.
I never quiet got the sneeker culture, do you? Johnston and Murphy are more
to my liking. To each his own.
Now come the "old" and "generational" comments.......

Wow, Ace Hood, I hope he performs a version of Bugatti, his biggest hit. The lyrics and the concept behind the rap are awesome!! For those who like to play with fire, but on a first class basis, this is the guy to hear and see.

I am a hip hop fan but think Ace Hood is garbage. That said, I am not the target market for this event and I think "any" entertainment is a positive step forward.

They should have gotten the kid Mike Stud, he is getting a lot of buzz in the music industry and is a Rhode Island kid. I think he lives in LA now, but I am sure he would have loved to play a URI event. Oh well, that's not my job, and I guess Ace Hood has more name value right now. To me he is just a really really really poor man's Lil Wayne.

BAR, I think Ace Hood was selected because of a more extensive recordings and connections. He was also a featured artist on the NBA 2K10 basketball video game that highlighted Kobe Bryant. I don't think he is garbage, but he will appeal to many especially the team itself. Rough lyrics.

But I do agree on Mike Stud. URI should try to get him for a future event. The big guy, a Dookie graduate (also St Ray's) has one sweet voice!

I hear ya Obes, Ace Hood had his moment a few years ago (hence his feature on NBA2k10) and never really broke into the mainstream. That said, I am sure the college age demo likes him a lot more than me so as I said I am all for it.

Yea admission is free. So obviously there is the fee and they aren't looking to charge at the door. I think its a big deal to have a national act and deliver it for free.

I feel old not knowing who ace hood was - that said, we aren't the target market for midnight madness, nor should we be.

This is the type of shit we've always been missing - stuff that gets recruits and students hyped. Great job by the athletic department on this.

Any idea what time this will start? Pats vs Jets kickoff is at 8:25. It won't keep me away but it might sway some students to skip this for the football game if they are at the same time.

The last few Madnesses have been so-so, compared to the
Harrick ones, which were wild.
No little scrimages, to get some vague idea of how new players look.
Slam dunk contests? Not the same.
I'm passing on this, too. I'll have all season to see them play for real.
Meanwhile, Pat-Jets have my attention.

This event is for the college kids. It is the equivalent of a high school pep rally. It is geared to get the student body and players excited for the season and caters to their interests.
