2 weeks ago I was so hyped for this game. Ranked rival coming into the Ryan Center and Rhody coming off a few wins. Now, eh.

It should be an interesting game to watch. No question UMass will be one of the four or five A10 teams in the NCAA's.
......The coach has his hands full designing an offense to withstand a serious press. No one pressed us hard prior to VCU. Now the scouting tapes are out there. We were eight turnovers[20], above our season averrage of 12. That led to a bunch of points for VCU.......Maybe not a whole forty minutes, but I expect more defensive pressure now.

......Hopefully the team can be coached out of the traps.

GORHODY!

And defensive side, what to do to contain(not stop) Chazz? A big if here, but if we can bottle him up on the dribble drive penetration for the dish pass maybe we can hang in their long enough? Let the others beat us by neutralizing Chazz?

I expect us to do a lot better than we did Thursday night.
Pray that they have an off shooting night, and we're on.
They have a lot more weapons than Chazz, and a lot of height.
We seem to be a very different team at home.
If EC and X can get untracked, and Biruta can stay in the game,
anything is possible.
Reischel seems to be coming back to his early season form,
which can only be a plus.
We need to get a big game out of an unexpected source, ala,
Ibn Bakari vs. Temple.
TJ's cramping is problematical, because who else is going to cover Chazz?
I wish Minnis wasn't out for the regular season.
One lineup I haven't seen during games is, Munford, EC, Reischel, Biruta and Martin.
When TJ needs a rest, this is a pretty potent offensive lineup with decent size,
instead of three guards. I view Reischel as a SF and am basing this on his resurgence.
Doors open at 3:00. Don't get that, because it's only an hour before game time.

URI's best hope is that UMass takes them lightly and plays down to them like they have vs others (such as with GMU and SBU), UMass is talented but plays a very undisciplined playground style of ball. They have played down to the competition many times in the past two years but have usually eked out wins at the end. If Chaz has a bad game, they are in trouble. Rhody has played much better at home. Keep it close and hope for the best down the stretch.

If we only have two more wins this season, I hope we win on sunday and put umass on the bubble. Then at the end of the season we go to their home and knock em out for good. That would be sweet revenge.

I complained and all they said was they would look into adding it to their HD lineup.

For some reason, CBS Sports looks way smaller than normal non HD
TV.
We put it on stretch mode for the game, which helped.

Agree with you Blue! It would be nice to see under Umass "bad losses"/Rhode Island when they are eliminated on that Sunday in March.
It certainly ain't easy being a Ram fan, especially with expectations so high at the start of the year. True fans show up tomorrow and root like hell. It would be easy to go tomorrow if we were on the bubble (PC might be falling off that bubble after today). Show the team we're not quitting. Go Rhody!

We have nothing to lose here. Bring everything and all hands that we have left. Say your prayers or what ever it is that you do. Just don't lay a goose egg, kissing your ankles. We can either try to jazz it up a little bit by either taring up the playbook or rewriting it. Shorthanded, soul searching and limping toward the finish line. We aren't winning much more than a t-shirt if our offense is on vacation still.

If you guys play as hard as you did in the 2nd half against VCU I think u guys could pull off the upset.

I'll certainly be cheering u guys on. You guys certainly have the talent to do it. We play at UMASS on the 21st. The guys we saw down here for the game against you guys, said they might take the VCU shirts we gave them for the shirt exchange and go to the UMASS vs VCU game that day and cheer on the Rams, since u guys don't play that day

Took a look at the UMass board, sounds like a decent amount of their fans will be at the game tomorrow. We need to be loud. Hopefully we have a good turnout, already bought my ticket. Also, they all complimented the Ryan Center.

Screw UMass. They have the most arrogant fans alive. They still believe their final four team was legit. When they knocked Rhody from NCAA consideration with the bullshit foul at the end of the game in the Baron era, do you think any UMass fan was unhappy?

Even if we only get 3 teams in the Dance (STL, GW & VCU), that's one more than the Big Least.

UMASS is -3.5 in this game. URI has a shot to win if they can shoot well and rebound and keep them off the boards.

Idk man.... GMU, odu n ur are pretty high up on the list.

ur stormed the court after they beat us last year in OT... We weren't even ranked I don't believe.

GMU stormed the court n yelled F**k you VCU a few years ago at Patriot center after hitting a lucky buzzer beater 3.

And odu is pretty bad too.

But I agree.. F UMass... Go URI!

There's not much about UMass that I like. If they get to the tourney, I'll root for them because they're in our league. But, as others have said, F... them.
If they're good enough for the tournament, they should beat us. If not, that's their problem.
I want to see them pissed off after losing to us. In fact, I'd love to see us win on a bad call, just to give them something to think about for the rest of the season.

Given the treatment I experienced at Mullins over the years, I can attest that their fan base is not very classy. Having lived in Western Massachusetts for awhile I can understand why. No problem with the students, but their older fans act and look like something out of the movie Deliverance.

Well if they truly act like something out of the movie Deliverance, let's follow the script and give their team the Ned Beatty treatment and make them squeal like a pig. (just joking of course)

Losing to URI isn't going keep us out of the tourney, unless we completely collapse over the last 8 games we are in. Our rpi is way too high and our SOS is good. Keep dreaming folks.

Agree, Umass, URI is a grudge game and such games are often discounted by the committee....or thrown out and used only as a tiebreaker.

Umass would need to hold serve at home tho... 2 losses would be devastating....losing at RC not so much IMHO, a split is not unexpected.

A loss to URI would not bounce you from the tourney but it would certainly put you a step closer to that bubble. While your RPI is strong now, a few more losses this season could drive that number higher. Plus RPI is being relied on less and less now. A top 30 RPI doesn't guarantee you a spot in the tourney anymore - Just ask us, we're all too familiar with relatively high RPI's and no rewards from the Jim Baron days. There's still a pretty tough road ahead for UMass with games vs VCU, St Lou, @GW and @Dayton so you're going to need to win the games that you're supposed to win (today being a good example)

The game itself might not keep u out completely... but considering your remaining schedule.... you'd almost have to win out and make a good run in the A-10 tourney to make the NCAA's.

I mean your OOC- your only real signature win was New Mexico. the rest are average teams at best. It took OT to beat Providence... really?

Then you look at in conference play- you barely beat St. Bonnie at home, you beat GMU by 1 pt... who until Saturday did not have a conference win, and only 7 wins total. You lose to Richmond who now doesn't have Lindsey for the rest of the season, you lose @ St Bonnies (2-6 in A-10), you lose at St Joes like VCU did last night...

And look at your remaining schedule- 2 games against URI, @GW.... very tough team to beat, VCU, @Dayton who can be tough when playing their A-game, and you end the year at home with SLU.

If y'all were to lose to URI... you would pretty much have to beat GW, VCU, & possibly even SLU to get in the tourney as an at large. Otherwise y'all would need to make a deep run in the A-10 tourney or win the tourney to get in.

Losing to URI, based on the rest of your remaining schedule, could very well keep you out of the NCAA tourney, unless you win the A-10 tourney by a miracle.
