Oh, for God's sake! HE was the victim?
I guess if Milan Lucic can claim to be a victim in a
bar room incident, then anyone can be a victim.
So, what did he get the crap beat out of him, to be out
indefinitely?
Remember the pictures posted of Aaman by his girlfriend
of him in the hospital, last fall all beat up looking?
Nobody ever addressed that, either.
Too bad because we really need this kid.

Hard to have a strong opinion about this other than it sucks for the team. Don't want to be mad at Mike or really have a ton of sympathy for him at this point based on how few details there are. I'll reserve judgment.

Two local teams who had big hopes this year,
both being derailed by off the court issues.
No judgements on the individuals involved, just fact.

"Aaman told police there were four alleged attackers, but he did not know the address or vicinity of the house party."

Then how did he find the house in the first place?

I think there's more to the story than what's been reported.

Good point, '74.
How do you claim to go to help your friend out, but don't
know where you went?
Unless he's that incoherent from the beating?

Thus far in his career I have liked Aaman generally and haven't heard anything bad about him personally, but this sounds very fishy.

after reading the story, it does sound very believable coming from someone that has seen this stuff happen before. Ive seen regular drunk fights between students, then another time one of my friends was jumped by a bunch of black kids who didn't go to URI. So I can see this happening.

So, how the hell do you come to bail a pal out, go there and have no idea where it was????????????????????
All the better that he's not from the area. That means he had to be given specific directions on how
to find the place.

Sounds like more happened, these types of situations occur though. I was out a few years ago with some players on the team and almost got into a brawl because a player talked to a girlfriend of another guy at a house party. We had 10+ kids ready to fight us until one of our guys defused the situation. URI basketball players are easily recognizable in the area and when alcohol is involved people want to take down the top dogs.

Well, someone else drove him there. He might have told the driver the address and then forgot it. They need to find the driver.

I'd have to be pretty drunk to mix it up with someone that looks like him.

This kid has spent more time in hospitals than on the court.

Or sometimes the smartest thing to do is just tell the cops you don't remember anything. Last thing you want to do sometimes is rat people out and then have to deal with them again later. Not saying thats the case here, I have no idea, but it wouldn't be the first time its happened.

How is it "ratting" out people who have done you or someone close to you,
something to be avoided?
I know a bit about witness intimidation, but if everyone clammed up out of fear, no crime would ever be reported.

You are correct, and ratting was probably a poor choice of words on my part, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen all the time.

I know it happens plenty. Witness intimidation was something I despised
as an Investigator. You'd have a case already to present, and poof, your witness would
back out.
Not much you can do about it, either. You can't effectively compel someone to testify.
Even under oath, there by subpoena, they can just play dumb.

Today's world also victimizes guys who are perceived as "snitches", so sometimes folks are unwilling to talk to police even if they've done nothing wrong.
Perfect example for that was the Paul Pierce stabbing.

Maybe the assailant or the friend was another member of the basketball team who was drunk out of his mind? It is all speculation; we simply do not know. (Hey Ed Brown has been around!)

There's way more questions than answers at this point. Any speculation as to the who, what, when, where and how including team players, team rules violations, will sort itself out in due process; another example of the complex nature of a D-1 hoop program with so many unknowns running around with the coaches inability to control them all....

I saw him at Moe's last night getting my free burrito. His left eye was shut and very dark purple. The discoloring didn't extend from beyond the eye.

Could be cautionary on the part of the team, but from the little we do know, assuming the report is correct, he got kicked several times while on the ground and it reads as if he perhaps landed on his head in the original fall. Or it could be as much a disciplinary action as anything else, that is of course complete speculation, there's been nothing suggested to date to believe the reasoning wouldn't be medical.

He had a concussion last year, and missed some time.
If he has one now, that's two, maybe three, from the
incident last fall.
That someone saw him at Moe's, means he's not hospitalized.
I wouldn't go by anything in Projo, because they're not connected to
the program, although KMac has sources.
He also could be suspended, considering the hour, and that this could be a repeat
offense.
We shall see. Doubtful the whole story will ever come out, at least by the school/

I don't want to be overly critical of Aaman since helping friends out is a worthy exercise. However, as a member of a "team", you also have responsibilities to that group of guys, to your coach and the coaching staff who selected you to be a recipient of a scholarship and the University who made that grant.
