I'm looking forward to it much more than the average exhibition game. It'll be interesting to see who Hurley starts, how he subs, and who the go-to offensive guys are. This team is such a mystery, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Absolutely! Can't wait to cheer on the team and our new coaching staff when they are announced over the Public Address.

I hope all fans in attendance stand and cheer the team during intros and continue to do so for all future games

I was concerned that power issues might affect the game. But it appears it won't. http://www.uri.edu/news/releases/?id=6447

No, I would not advocate for that. I think simply a standing ovation through the introductions is sorely needed, now more than ever.

What are everyone's expectations for the game? I don't want to see us win simply because we are more athletic (throwing alley-oops over an undersized D3 Team, out running CG on fast breaks, etc.). I would like to see well executed set-plays (solid screens, pick and rolls, good PG play, boxing-out) and solid team defense.

I don't think Hurley will allow that to happen. He'll have them playing very disciplined basketball right out of the gate I'm sure.

Yeah, and I bet Dan will have no problem using timeouts within minutes of the opening tip if he doesn't see what he wants being executed on the floor.

I never thought an exhibition game could be so highly anticipated!!

Calm down there. Dont go getting a major pants tent for the Hurley Legacy. Guy has only coached at Wagner. And we are talking about Coast Guard. Its gonna be a long season down in Kingston, so I guess you better celebrate these kinda games while you can.

Unlike in Providence, where the Friars are picked last in the BE.

Umm, im not PC fan if thats what you are insinuating. I do cheer for Rhody. I was just simply trying to point out that until we see results, its not much to get excited about playing Coast Guard. Its gonna be a long year. I think we are going to struggle at times. We will see if the struggles pay off 2-3 years from now.

And as far as trying to rip PC for finishing last in BE, I do believe we are picked 2nd to last in A-10. Not sure we have much room to speak.

PC and URI are programs on the rise. I do think you will see some great matchups in years to come.

Fans should also stand when the players take the floor.

To be truly successful in college basketball, the fans need to create at atmosphere where it makes it difficult for other teams to escape with a win. Opposing teams should FEAR having to come into the Ryan Center, not for safety obviously, but for the fact that the crowd is overbearing and on them all game. HOME COURT ADVANTAGE. Being honest, URI has some of those things in place, but URI hasnt had that atmosphere needed the past few years. Granted, under Baron, it was hard to be behind the team 100 percent of the time, but the atmosphere, can totally be blamed on the fans and fanbase. With a new staff and a new era and culture, I expect this to change as "new money" is brought into the arena with new season ticket holders, etc. However, its not going to happen overnight. Tough to blame the fans for not showing up or being enthused when the product on the floor isnt that strong. Give it 2 years.

URImakesmeHURLEY will now be known as RamJam, since nobody "got" the joke with his previous username.

He also has been asked to tread lightly as a new user, since trolling and obvious disruption is not permitted here.

ATP. I got the play on words, but didn't take it as a joke, but as another troll looking for a confrontation.

I'm with '67.
Somebody comes on here with a demeaning name, and a negative post
and we're not supposed to think he's a troll?
I hope you're keeping him on a short leash, because I have my doubts.
As for real fans, I fully agree with Neil.
Fans should stand during intros and when they come out of lockerroom.
I was surprised that nobody stood up during Madness, since it was the staff's first
on the court debut.

I am looking forward to Friday for 3 reasons.

1. This will be my first time back in the Ryan Center in over 6 years as I vowed not to return until you know who was fired.
2. I get to take my son who was 3 the last time he was in the Ryan Center. He doesnt remember ever going to a game.
3. To see that we have finally gotten OUR PROGRAM back.

The results of this year are secondary to what this year will truly mean down the road.

I won't be there for the exhibition, unfortunately - I still don't have power in my place, and the restore date is Friday, so I'm assuming I'm going to have to do a lot of clean-up and restocking tomorrow. However, starting with the Norfolk State game, we should have coverage of all the home games like last year.

with the damage down in 'gansett, the meeting I was planning on attending this weekend was cancelled. I was going to try to sneak in the game around the meeting. I look forward to the reports from all those who make it to the ryan center.

Our big guys actually have a chance to dominate in this game. I think CG has a pretty small team, as there is a height limit to be able to join the CG.

I'll be there and should have some simple video to post to rhodeislandrams.com.
The standard offer for check in's with forum members stands and would be welcome, ehhem, ROD...I'll do audio only for anyone who doesn't want their mug on the site. I'll be in the press area probably wearing my faded out Rhody cap with something identifying the site or myself. Jim, aka AZramfan, will be starting his shows live next Saturday night 11/10, I believe at 7pm, so get your opinions on, and call in to the show live.

Interesting pregame comments from Hurley on the radio. Said offensively they will play very close to the vest and not show much, because we have a game that counts next Friday and you never know who's watching. Said this game will be alot more about defense.

No TJ tonight, they are hoping he will be ready for next friday, but wont know until early next week.

Without putting too much stock in one half of an exhibition game, Munford sounds like he will be a focal point of the offense.
