Better watch out. It could have the opposite effect. In RI, legislators might think they can cut support even further since the university got a large gift.

RF1, at first I chuckled at your post above. Moments later, I feared that you are correct. The General Assembly is one of the most ignorant groups with regard to the value of higher education.

Actually, let them cut it down to nothing, and make the university private. Long term, would be better off.

Tom Ryan has been a busy man as of late. His gift to URI was not his only recent big financial outlay. He just spent 3.3 million on a 4.4 acre property off Ocean Road with 300 feet of ocean frontage. My guess is that even more could be spent rehabbing or replacing the current house on the site.

Not trying to tell Mr. Ryan his business, but if I'm paying that much for a house with "ocean frontage" I want some beach, or at least a dock. With those rocks there the ocean frontage is only useful to look at.

But if there actually is ocean frontage, then you're subject to public access laws.
